My early potato crop
« on: May 25, 2008, 16:01 »
I planted some international kidney in a bag in the kitchen in February. Here is the harvest. Not many, but they taste lovely.

Can't wait for the 100 tubers (different varieties) I've planted at the allotment to grow.
Lynne.

So much to do, but so little time.

Look good Lynne, didn't get round to putting any in the greenhouse this year, so I'll have to wait for the outside ones & Jack Frost has set them back.

Got about 320 tubers of about 12 varieties - having a good play around this year!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Awww wow! Wish I started mine early. My earliest  (second earlies) were planted in bags beginning of April, I think... or maybe it was around late March-ish - can't remember, but they've grown to the top of the bag, and have been 'earthed up' and are just beginning to flower. I really can't wait to start eating my spuds! I have about 18 bags and tubs on the go and 4 rows at the plot with about 8 varieties. Still got loads of tubers left to plant and these are all going into bags to be brought into the polytunnel when it gets cold later in the year. I did buy toooo many seed potatoes    . That reminds me - I may need to order more potato planters/bags.....

*sigh* none of my earlies came up, the rows are empty.  At least my salads and main crop are up and growing.

We had some shop-bought Jersey Royals at the in-laws today and they had nothing like as much flavour as they used to have.  A friend said much the same during the week.  I wonder what they are doing differently?  Makes me look forward to getting our own spuds in a few months time.  I bet those taste good, Lynne!
