Title: Read any good books lately ?
Post by: mrs bouquet on June 17, 2020, 15:57
I know this topic comes up sometimes, but I couldn't find a previous reference.

I have just finished a book by Jeffery Archer, called the Fourth Estate.     Whilst the names have been changed it is easy to work out it is about Robert Maxwell, and Rupert Murdoch.    It was quite a long book, but I have enjoyed it.    What now I ask myself.  Mrs Bouquet

If you can get a cheap copy online, Mrs B, read 'Paradise Postponed', by John Mortimer!

It's one of the best stories I've read in years, and if you like the characters, (and you will), just check out the DVD as well, with so many famous names, playing their parts so easily, because it's even funnier/sadder/enjoyable and will give you several hours of pure fabulousness!

Struggling to concentrate at the moment and  have been rereading some David Baldacci and Ann Cleeves.

I've read all David Baldacci's books, they're just great reads!

'Saving Faith' is a fave, but you need to read 'The Christmass Train', around that time (spelling to get away from mods), as it is just a charming read!

I've been rereading - The Summer Queen, The Winter Crown and The Autumn Throne, by Elizabeth Chadwick. 3 books about the lifetime of Eleanor of Aquitaine, History's most powerful woman..... fascinating to read.

It is historically recorded that she crossed the alps in mid-winter, on horseback, and at times on foot because of deep snow at the age of 65. I wonder how many people would manage that, nowadays?

contacted today by the library, who indefinitely renewed my books on lockdown.  It is going to be open on 2 days to drop books in.  I think it will be into the returns bin in the porch !     I am not going to return mine just yet, as I think I will have to read them again !!!.   Mrs B
