« on: August 27, 2014, 07:01 »
Hi All,
Mrs FB want a Buddleia in the garden.
There are lots around us on the Canal banks etc, do Buddleia's take well from cuttings to propagate.
Thanks for any advice

You might be better off getting a cultivated one rather than one of the wild ones as they get very big with long wafty stems.  I know you can buy smaller more compact versions, which might be more suitable for a garden.
I don't know about taking cuttings though, if you know somebody with one you could always try, but they certainly seem to take well as seedlings!

Cuttings root easily.  I have a buddleia globosa, which I often propagate from cuttings.  Just stick them in a pot of compost.  If I'm feeling generous, I dip them in rooting powder as they are a hard cutting, but sometimes just stick em in the pot!

They grow like weeds, just break a bit off, stick it in the ground and it will soon take.
