Something new
« on: November 25, 2023, 13:45 »
Trying something different this year on one bed, I’ve spread 4 inches of leaves over the top and then putting cage cleanings from rabbit and Guinea pigs again about 4 inches. Will rotovate in early spring

The leaves were already starting to break down and had loads of worms in, forcast is rain tomorrow so that will weigh down the hay and straw in the cleanings and in a week or two I may fork it over to mix it through.
I always have added leaves and cage cleanings directly into my compost bins and left for at least 6 months to give a good compost mix so this is a completely new system to me
Nothing ventured nothing gained allotments are all about trying new things .

We used rabbit poop straight on the top without composting years ago and never had a problem with it  :)
