It has been recomended that I get Pekin Bantams as I have a small space and I am not too concerned about the amount of eggs. Are these the best Bantams to get I would be grateful for any advice.

Hi Belinda,

we all have our favourites. i would suggest having a good look around at all the different breeds, (you'll be surprised how many there is) and go for the one that you fall in love with.

there's a really good book by Chris Graham, called Choosing and keeping chickens.

it has a huge section about all the different breeds, lots of colourful pictures and details on personalities and everything.

alot of breeds have bantam versions, so you have a lot to choose from even if you have limited space.

They sound really sweet I think they would suit me well as I have three children. Even though my youngest is 11 it would be nice to have such friendly hens.  :)

I have Pekins. They really are very friendly and tame. They don't trash the garden and even though their eggs are small they are very tasty.
Proud to be a 100% qualified, caring, encouraging, one more push, reassuring Midwife!

Are you sure she's not just taking the blame. Black Rocks can be very devious
And pekins are such sweet, innocent, little things
