Post by: scabs on April 27, 2012, 15:12
Every Ko Shamo hatched yesterday is dead.

Not happy.

No... she sat brilliantly up to yesterday. One chick pipped yesterday and is now dead - apparently, it sounds like it didn't make it out of the shell properly. My mate has just been up to check for me (I'm at work) and he says the rest of the eggs have been scattered all over and are stone cold.

That just leaves the Cream Legbars in the incubator, which I don't have high hopes for - mr postman was less than helpful!  :(

Didn't candle them, but am a bit pessimistic

Ah well, I'll line some more up this weekend and off we go again!

Jo57 had the same problem but one egg has managed to hatch.

There may still be hope.

Nope. All dead and rest of the eggs stone cold.

The good news is that, despite having been lost in the post, and in an incubator that has cut out TWICE, a couple of my Cream Legbar eggs are pipping as we speak. I'm quite astonished.

Amazing. Four chicks out of nine and, whilst ordinarily I'd be disappointed, I'm over the moon.

I think two of each, but then again, it's a first for me!

I took a pic for Cara to look at but it's not the best... I'll see if I can upload it.

By my standards 4 out of 9 is not bad for eggs sent in the post.  I've always had terrible results from posted eggs.  Shame about the others all the same. :(

Thanks Joy, I'll look at it during lunch... I was going off the eyeliner, which someone pointed me to.

No, sold five of them and kept one.  :)

Think the very dark one is a red herring. Of the three 'lighter' ones, one is a lot lighter yet and doesn't have such distinct goth eye make-up.

The photo is rubbish, to be honest.

I'll know soon enough and it was great for the children to have been able to watch.

Duck eggs went in yesterday.

Glad you managed to hatch some of your eggs, they are so cute.  Don't stay that way very long though.  My 2 1/2 week old Welsummer Bantam chicks have already started to spar with each other and are getting really good at flying.
