I was hoping you may all be able to help, about three months ago one of our hybrid chickens went missing, we looked everywhere and couldn't find her.

We had just about given up hope and thought a fox must have taken her when she returned to the chicken enclousure (quite a large 10m x 20 m free range area) along with two day old chicks! We put mum and the two chicks in thier own coop and area and the two chicks are now 10 weeks old (mum is back with the others now).

The problem I have got is I can't tell what sex they are, Dad is a Dominque cockerel and we think Mum is a brown hybrid (columbian black tail) but I can't say for certain if she was sitting on her own eggs as we searched but could never find the nest. I did think we had one of each sex at about 6 weeks but now they look the same.

I was hoping if I posted some photos you may be able to help.

you can also look at them combs. boys' are usually bigger

No spurs as yet and combs don't look too big but hard to tell when I have nothing to compare against.

I hatched some Welsummer and Cream Legbar chicks earlier in the year and I could easily tell on the Welsummer's by this stage as could compare the boys and girls. Knew from day one on the Cream Legbars as they auto sex.

Sort of hoping they are female as husband has developed soft spot for them .... Keep catching him talking to them!

If they are only 10 weeks, then I think they are both boys, sorry

Their combs are very large and red.  If they were pullets, I would expect their combs to be very small and pink.

I thought that might be the case but hubbie is trying to convince me their females 

There such friendly little things  and I think he knows what lie's ahead if they are boys
