I've been wondering if it is OK to plant onion sets even though the weather forecast this week is for minus temperatures over night?
I've got shallots that have produced about 6" of top growth and need to go into the allotment but again, should I wait until night temperatures are above zero?

Mine went in yesterday after outgrowing their small modules.

I took the view that they are hardy plants, they'd been outdoors anyway in their modules, and the risk of being stunted by being left in the modules was greater.

Mine will be going in next weekend, no matter what the weather .

Like Yorkie says, they are hardy plants and should come to no harm

Mine have been in 4 weeks now and growing well. They don't need molly coddling an will easily withstand an overnight frost.

Took the plunge and planted them this afternoon.
