I'm just after cutting my "lawn" with the scythe and I have to say that I really enjoy it (I'm always doing it that way), it gives me the feeling, that I've really done it myself. And beside it: it's the most enviromentally friendly way of clearing my fast growing grass (I'm still in the middle of clearing and digging up my totally neglected garden).

I've manage to get a hold of an aluminium scythe with a dodo blade, 5 minutes after starting it's as blunt as a butter  knife, but nevertheless it keeps me fit an my sheep love the long grass in the winter.

Being riddled with arthritis the thought of using a scythe seemed impossible, but I was lucky to have been shown how to use one by an old hand (73 when he showed me how).  So I jumped at the opportunity to try again this summer.
Low and behold I could still do it.  Its all in the swing and the follow through.  Maybe I could not do it all day but I could maybe keep going for an hour or two.  I was surprised and delighted.

Bye the bye keeping the blade sharp was an art in itself.
