Identify this hand tool

Found this old tool in a garage that I have just "inherited" and I have no idea what it is for  :unsure: !!
Anyone help ??





Thought I would draw a handle to show what it may have looked like .

I reckon it's something to do with harvesting grasses / wheat etc, with the hook on the end being used to help put them into sheaves.

Mind you, that is a complete guess a la QI ...  :lol:
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Off the top of me 'ead I would say that the pointed end has been bent out of shape and would have been the same as the right side.  Then it looks like a wood working tool to me.

There were tools for chopping turnips - first stroke is to cut from ground, second pick it up with the spike and then whilst in your hand cut off the tops. Then thrown into a cart whilst tops left on ground for sheep to over winter on.

I would say with a handle on each end a carpenters tool like a spoke shave ...

Ive googled " drawknives" but cant find one of this shape, I,ll try Turnips and spokeshave and see how it goes.

Looks like a draw knife to me, as Ice said, should have another handle on the some what bent spike end, I beleive there were curved draw knives as well as the more common straight one's, this one has been well used and abused.
Optimism probably a gardeners best tool.
