Title: Turkeys
Post by: geoffwales on July 23, 2008, 13:50
Hi all, a friend of mine has asked me to knock up a coop for keeping Turkeys.

Does anyone know what size they require.

Also what size perches and nesting box.

Many thanks

In a previous life, we had 12 in an 8x6 shed, and they free ranged too.

as to perches and nest boxes, is he raising them for Christmas?  in which case no perches OR nest boxes necessary

But Brian has never perched a turkey anyway

Our Turkeys used to free range and fly up onto the roof at night to roost.  (Yes they can fly quite well )  They did have an 8 x 6ft shed but seemed to prefer the roof for some reason (if free ranging, suggest clip wings).  Also brilliant guard dogs, better than geese.

a good bar 6 to 10 inches from the floor is fine for them ,,, but yes clip em
