Just went to get some onions out of the garage and it turns out that where we had strung them up, the roof has been leaking. Most of the onions are now rotten. They have had to be thrown away. Hubby reckons about 50 odd onions. We now have about a weeks supply left.

Two years back had to chuck out about 200 as they just refused to keep.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Oh no, that's a shame. We keep checking ours as they are in a shed as well.

I know the feeling!  If it is any consolation, our (new!) fridge freezer died last week and we lost most of what we had frozen.

Not a home-grown legume to be had this winter!

Leaking Garage roof and rotting onions , what a blow , next year if you have nt fixed the roof keep them in your loft and get a few down as required, if you dont have a shed or other suitable place.
How devastating for you to lose a seasons hard work like that.

Broken Freezer and losing your beans ..aargh ! can you claim off your house insurance ??

Today, at the plot the leeks and winter greens are sitting in 6 " of water from all the recent rain, hope they will survive the winter and not rot in the ground.

Producing and storing veg is not easy but the challenge is what keeps us at it year after year.
