Rain...
« on: April 24, 2009, 14:34 »
Does anybody have any they can lend me?

Its a dust bowl in the garden - even and inch down now its dry.  Im getting worried about the seeds I have sown directly.   Seems a little odd having to water in April.

No, I'd say it is becoming quite common to run around with the watering can soon after sowing seeds  :tongue2:  Every year I seem to go in a panic in March/April, and then  :( it rains heavily in May ...

I've had to seriously water the fruit trees on the allotment to the tune of a couple of gallons this week. But some of us have been doing gentle watering up here for the last three weeks as everything was stressed.

I've watered almost every night this past week, the ground has been totally parched.

Despite this mornings down pour by 6 tonight it was just as bad as yesterday.   >:( I think I'll have to invest in a really really really long hose pipe.

I did see the forecast - looks "promising". The problem with sandy soil is it doesn't retain any of it though.

I've been out with the watering can most nights too these last couple of weeks. A couple of showers today that didn't amount to much, still had to use my watering can.
