Now that some things are dying down in the veg patch is there anything in there that would be poisonous to the chickens? I have the usual things like pea tops, runner beans, french beans carrot tops and pumpkin leaves etc.

I think that nothing on your list will do any harm but there is not much food value either, they might have the odd peck and scratch about but you will end up taking it out of the run later. Pea haulm is ok if there are a few young shoots but my chooks are not over keen on it. Hens tend to leave the bad stuff (tom and tater plants) alone unless they are starving.

thanks for that its just they do enjoy something interesting to root about with as well as pellets.

They keep people for special occasions though as they are considred a delicacy!!
