Depth of soil for soft fruit.
« on: April 10, 2018, 17:36 »
The area I want to put my fruit garden doesn’t have very deep soil, about a spade depth and then its the makings of some sort of yard or animal yard made up of rubble. Too late to get more top soil as the entrance is now bricked up, it seems to drain reasonably well. I will add compost every chance i get but for the time being Is this enough depth for soft fruit?

Yes, I would think so, most soft fruit has most of it's roots in the top spade depth. If it's rubble below then roots can get down through that to tap water further down. Mulch it well to keep in the moisture and they should thrive. Most soft fruit is not very fussy.
