Yesterday at the West Yorkshire Organic Group show, I tasted several tomatoes on the organic tomato demonstration stall.

I really liked a cherry tomato called Sweet Aperitif.   Not having enough tomato varieties in my collection (Ha! She lies) I thought I would look it up and see who stocks it.

Well, it is widely available, but there seems to be a difference of opinion about whether or not it is an open pollinated variety or an F1 hybrid. I think I will try it anyway as the taste was superb, but as an avid seedsaver I would really like to know which type it is.

Thompson and Morgan and Tesco's list it as an F1 hybrid.

D T Brown and Seedaholics say it is open pollinated.

Suttons, Mr. Fothergill's and Crocus are silent as to type (perhaps they are unsure too?)

The price gives little indication.  T&M charge 99p for 10 seeds as an F1, but it is £2.69 for 20 seeds as open pollinated at D T Brown.

Has anyone grown this variety and successfully saved seed from it?

Thanks Mum.  I must have missed that discussion.   Glad they are open pollinated.  They had a gorgeous taste.

Delicious tomato variety, first time I've tried growing them. They're still going strong on my plot outdoors, very sweet. Will be growing again next year.
