I too aim for mid-march planting but soil condition can postpone that by up to a month.

I required Lady Christl only this year in a small quantity wHich I sourced from Bridgend Garden Centre. They were most accommodating with regard to delivery date and I was able to opt to have them now or later. I chose now as I am happy that I can store them in a satisfactory manner prior to chitting. Some of the best seed potatoes I have ever seen arrived yesterday.

They have a decent range of stock of different varieties and seem to be happy to provide small or large quantities to your own requirements at good delivery rates if you are not near enough to visit. I can recommend them highly.

Thanks for the feedback, it appears that I have just about guessed correctly.
Just for future reference how do you store seed potatoes and how long will they store for?

Although I have heard of seed potatoes being held back by keeping them in a fridge, I think the best way of "storing" them is to chit them - given light and a frost-free location they will slowly produce sturdy short chits and should remain plantable for months.

That's the way I do it.

I wouldn't have the capacity to store mine any other way, so as soon as I get them, they're set up for chitting in the frost free greenhouse.

When I buy mine (hopefully in the next few days) they will go into the aviary to chit (not cheep). It's frost-free in there, receives daylight but only through glass double-glazed with bubble-wrap and the budgies cant get to them.

This year I must buy fewer... what ever that is.
