This year's heritage seed
« on: January 06, 2018, 10:49 »
Have just dropped through the letter box. We're having a crack at:

Pea: British Wonder
Tomato: Jersey Sunrise
Onion: Srtigonovsky
Leek: Coloma
Cauliflower: English Winter - Leamington
Carrot: Giant Improved Flak

After saying to myself I'd cut back on the squash I get a lucky dip of Rams' Kodu.

OK - let battle commence.

(In a couple of months)
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Hope it's easier to grow than pronounce!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

"Onion Strigonovsky

From Russia, this variety is a brown globe shaped onion that we feel has a lot of potential for growing in this county. It is very popular in the former USSR. Produces onions approximately 120-240g in size with good flavour, not excessively hot."

My heritage selection this year is:
Dobbie's Purple beetroot
Silsden Bomb White Cabbage
Red Elephant carrot
Lazy Housewife Climbing French Bean
Little Tatyana Tomato
Mr. Novak tomato

My lucky dip for the second year running was Mrs. Patel's Callaloo.  I have swapped this for a Sheepnose pepper that a Twitter seed sharing friend also got for a second year running!

Chose the cabbage as my son works in Silsden at the Ecology Building Society and they have a veg garden.  I am going to grow a few plants for them to have.  It seems neat to have a Silsden cabbage growing in Silsden.

I grew Lazy Housewife last year but, unfortunately, like all of my French beans they were poor. Will be trying them again (and hoping for better results) this year!
