Bedroom TV.
« on: December 16, 2022, 11:00 »
Just thinking ahead about getting OH a little TV for his bedroom so when he's put to bed at about 5pm he can watch it. Are there any that have their own aerial as we only have one TV socket in the lounge.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I've not seen any with rabbit ears or a loop for years GG. You can always split the signal from your existing aerial and use a booster for terrestrial tv. Most channels are available via streaming services if your wireless internet is up to that.

It might also be worth looking for a set which has an off timer or sleep countdown timer.  I used to set ML's to go off at 10pm and come back on at 7am as she found the remote control buttons difficult to use.

If running a cable from a splitter to the bedroom is impractical, and you don't think the Wi-fi option would work (or not give sufficient choice of channels), you could consider an indoor aerial.

If your broadcast signal is strong across all channels (most TV's have an option to check this) you should get away with it - lots of choice at the likes of Amazone - some of them have built in signal boosters which could make a difference if one or more channels is a bit marginal.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Most tv's are smart tv's these days.. if you've got broadband try set it up to your network.. Freeview can be watched over WiFi and with a firestick plugged in the world's your oyster!

We have BT broadband with a wi-fi router in the hall so that might work. Our TV just has Freeview as we don't subscribe to anything else. BTW, what's a firestick? Does it mean he can only watch it on November 5th or New Year's Eve? What orifice do you stick it in? Can it be removed if he misbehaves?

A firestick is basically a USB streaming device from Amazon that plugs into a USB port in the back of the TV. Once it's connected to WiFi, it gives the option of downloading apps itv hub, bbc iPlayer, netflix etc to the stick, obviously some are pay per view, but a lot are free. If you justcwant vasic channels.. just buy a freeview installed TV, connect it wirelessly to your router then no need for streaming.

You could try a Chromecast bit of kit, which plugs into the back of a TV, and you can watch anything on YouTube etc., with just a few taps on an iPad or an iPhone!

You get exactly what's on the handheld, but on a decent sized screen, and as we never watch live TV these days, (too depressing and woke), the result is fabulous!
