Title: Asteroid last night?
Post by: mumofstig on February 13, 2023, 12:13
I got up for my usual trip to the bathroom, and there was a very bright flash of light, which I took to be lightning - but no storm came.
I didn't think anything more of it, until I saw the news, that it was an asteroid   ::)

Did anyone else see it?

There was a large one that exploded over south Texas last night, and some reported in Kansas as well.

Both could be part of the alpha Centaurids (ACE), described as a minor meteor shower here https://www.amsmeteors.org/meteor-showers/2020-meteor-shower-list/ (https://www.amsmeteors.org/meteor-showers/2020-meteor-shower-list/)  I guess it's minor if it isn't exploding over your house.
