mantis tiller
« on: October 08, 2007, 21:42 »
Hi folks

Just looked at a Mantis tiller.

2 years old used about 18 times.

Supposedly £300 new which seems dear as internet has them at 270 .

Looks the business all stickers in tack and clean and tidy.

Think its genuine.

Saw it running but it struggled to keep going. Think he flooded it.

Said it wanted fuel changing?

Left my number and said would go back when he got it running.

Have read Muntys sticky at top but did not find info on keeping 2 stroke running.

questions for you folks

What is the potential problem and cost of servicing?

If you where going to have a punt at it? what would you offer?
(havent mentioned the price he wants as want to guage from your replies what u think its worth)

Cheers Al   :?
NOT ARF !

£ 200 with all tools now .no probs in keeping 2 strokes running , , sevicing is a change of oil and a new spark plug every 2 years if it needs it ,, give the air filter a wash in washing up liquid and then dry out ,put a drop of oil on it and squeeze it to spread it through the foam .. sorted
still alive /............

I agree with munty grab it they are brilliant fluff,
another check to do is in the fuel tank there is the pick up fuel line with a filter attached to the end, fish this out and check its not gunged up with scale from old fuel.
you can get a service pack from mantis includes spare air filters,plug,2 stroke oil, grease and a few other bits n bobs.
feed the soil not the plants
organicish

no real experience of these. But two strokes are about fuel. I had the advert disk on the mantis and it looked great. Size of plot would determine the usefulness. If doing a bit at a time down the allotment it would be fine. I would think that a large area of work would prove tedious.
But not beyond the ability of the machine.
