[Novice]

I could be in loads of trouble off Mrs.Novice if I don't deliver sprouts and purple sprouting broccoli this year.......but I'm not sure where to start.
Can anybody enlighten me please ?

Well you are a little late for sprouting but maybe she'd like some nice calabrese (broccoli) which will be quicker and tastier.

You can sow sprouts now. I start them off by sowing in a modular seed tray and thinning to one per module.  When they're grown a little, move into 3" pots. My tip is to add a little lime to the compost (like dusting a cake then mix in).
Plant out when established - you need to firm the soil around them as much as possible - otherwise winter winds will rock them over and spoil things. A little extra lime around the plant may well help. Brassicas (the cabbage family) like a high pH level.
Plenty of feed as well, they're pretty greedy plants.
