Katy apple tree
« on: October 04, 2014, 11:08 »
Has anyone got one?

She wanted an apple tree for her garden and I found one with her name  :D but is it a good'un for the clay soil that she has in her North Kent garden?

There are lots of other apples around, so don't think pollination will be a problem.

I have inherited one, that is quite young, and it had about half a dozen red apples this year.  It is an early apple, and the apples are nice and crunchy.

Nice sweet apple, can be used for cider making. Small fruit, but sweet.

Nice sweet apple, can be used for cider making. Small fruit, but sweet.

Thatchers make cider called Katy. 7.4% absolutely stunning on a warm evening

My god-daughter is called Katie and they have one in their (London clay) garden. It's loaded with apples each year - small and really sweet. Not my thing for eating fresh, but the dehydrated apple rings are wonderful.
