Help Identifying Beans
« on: October 11, 2007, 15:46 »
Hello

I went and helped at the school allotment today, they took it over recently and there were lots of things already planted. Most if the things i recognised but there were beans that i can't identify.

They are in very long pods and when you open them up the beans are pink some of them have brown spots on them. My camera is playing funny * so i couldn't take a picture.

Does anyone recognise this.

I have been named as the allotment expert beacause i seemed to know more than anyone else. Which isn't saying much. I thought they were borlotti beans but  after googling it they dont seem to come in green pods.

Help please.
I don't have a drink problem. I drink, I get drunk, I pass out. No Problem.

Wasn't just runner beans that had gone a bit beyond the eating stage was it?

How long were the pods, Clare? There is the yard long bean, if they were very long.  But as people hinted on, there are a lot of beans with pink patterns, I think Enorma is one of those, which is quite often grown and is a long podded, show variety. Not sure of the colour, though.

Okay so finally managed to get a pictue of the little blighter. It turns out that they are not pink with brown spots after all (tells you something about my short term memory) they are purple with dark purple/navy blue kind spots but not really spots more half the bean any way check out the picture and see if it sheds any light. Get it shed..allotment site.. no i get it. sounded funnier in my head.

Hi. Not too bad.Still of work. I got another line for two weeks. I am going to go back after that. The trip to jersey was great. I have uploaded some pictures to my bebo site, but they are mostly family.

I have just looked up scarlet runner beans and found a picture. Sorry Munty I should've done that first before faffing around with the camera.
