Something is eating my seedlings
« on: May 04, 2015, 20:41 »
As the title says, tops of 24 beetroot seedlings gone over a couple of days now the edges of brassica seedlings starting to show nibbles. What do we think it is and how do we stop/kill/catch it

Slugs if they are outside in the ground, but can be inside too. Put down boards or empty grapefruit or orange skins & turn them over in a morning to see what's hiding.

could be naughty mice too

try setting some traps or place down bait - if it gets eaten you got mice

I had no evidence of slugs or snails in my little greenhouse, but the tops got eaten off most of my cucumber seedlings.  When I moved the remaining 2, there were 2snails hiding round the back of the other pots.
