hi

agree, read through the posts on here, we are new as well and found the information invaluable, we ended up buying a coop instead of a shed and my husband built a huge run for them and as we are in the middle of the country side he has put an electric fence round the run.
there are so many experienced people on here so you will get loads of information  :D

Hi THWW and welcome!  First of all, make sure you are allowed to have chooks on your allotment, some don't allow livestock.

There is also somewhere on the poultry forum ideas for making a shed into a chook house.  I'll see if I can find it for you.  Oh and Chicky Chick and her hubby made one out of a wooden toolstore they got from B&Q, plenty beg enough for their 4 chooks!

Have a look at my blog to see a pic of the one my OH built, for our goats, then extended for our chicks.  Also there are some pics of our other chook house which ubby built and my garden shed which I turned into a brooder for our chicks when they first arrived at day old!

This is a good thread to start with!!!!

You won't regret it!!!!!
