Cool, frost free and airy (spare bedroom, utility room in my case) and they will keep to the spring if they are nicely ripe and with a good hard skin.  If in doubt a week or two on a sunny window sill to ripen before putting them away.  I think it was April (it was a cold spring) before we ate the last winter squash here.
