I am thrilled...i think!... i put 10 eggs in incy working on the basis that i might only get 5 hatch...(what with my luck and all)...candled last night at day 17 and appear to have 8 viable....now going into panic mode and thinking...where the heck am i going to put em all!! so... I have an indoor hutch/cage (rabbit/guinea pi) where they can be whilst they small and will fit.... but then when they have their feathers and can go outside, how much space do you need for them to grow in until they ok to go into main coop? I have a dog kennel with a built on run that i can adapt and use, but am not sure of space ratio for little ones!

congrats on your soon to hatch babies cant wait for the pics.

space wise i keep my 3 growers in a dog cage at present they are out growing it now but waiting for hubby to do some DIY and convert the kids playhouse into a chook house.....(.sometime never)    and build a run from that to the fence. I let them out to wander the garden but not for very long maybe an hour a time as dog cant go out at same time till they bigger he leaves full size chooks but thinks babies are fair game! :?
 hope that helps :)

normally i would say send em here i can have cocks
no one minds lol but unfortunalty i am over ran with unsexed babies so could have loads of my own   defo got  1 boy poss 2 out of my growers and then got 5 chicks only bout 4/5 weeks old (bought unaged at auction)

One of the sites I looked on when I was trying to work out space was until they are 6 weeks, they need a quarter of the space of a full grown chook, then up to about 12 weeks I think it was, half the space, then after that same amount of space!

Hope that helps????
