Title: Hello folks
Post by: HarryJ on April 11, 2024, 20:45
Intro...
Newbie, I started with a couple of 1m raised beds in the garden. Got my 1/4 plot last year which was a slow learning process where I cultivated just enough of my plot to meet their requirements. Got a few sacks of spuds and onions and some fruit out of it. Hoping to get more engaged this year if the weather ever picks up.
I'm not enamoured by no-dig, I want to grow stuff Dad's way at minimal cost and effort.
Plot is plagued by marestail and bindweed and last year blight killed my tomatoes. I'll be asking lots of daft questions after I've looked around

Welcome Harry. No such thing as a dumb question, not asking in the first place is what's really dumb!

Welcome to the forums and congrats on your new lotty!

If two of us reply to a question, you'll probably get three different suggestions on the answer ... which just goes to show that there's never only one correct way to do something!

I see some really old unanswered threads such as https://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=108544.msg1220894#msg1220894 that don't have a reply button. Is that some policy?

I think I can contribute on the topic of marestail from the angle of a newbie.

Those topics, without a reply button, are just to give advice, rather than open discussion..

You can always start your own topic if that's what you'd prefer to do ;)
