Broad beans

Does anybody know if I can sow broad beans directly from the been seed recently picked or do they have to be dried first?

you could try, but I suspect drying helps to build up enzymes that are needed for germination otherwise you'd have all your legumes attempting to germinate while still in the pod  ;)
Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success.
Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.
