hi, one of my chicks has hatched, more than i thort from my first time with a home made incy, (im also picking up some day olds at the end of the week to keep it company ) i have it in a brooder with chick crumb and fresh water but wondered if there was anything else i should be providing for it or any extras it can have such as greens or meal worms etc. thanks massa

Mine are all hatched by broodies so they get grass when she brings them out ususally from day 2, however in a brooder it may be different. I think Grannie Annie gives hers chickweed from a very early age - about a week old or so but only in very small doses (too much greenery can give them the squits and then you can have a problem with pasty bum). Hopefully somebody else will be along to offer advice on what they do.

i will just leave it with chick crumb for now then and offer some greens in a few days, when should i provide grit, i have put some in the brooder but it doesnt seem bothered by it!

Mine just get chick crumb until they get let out of the outhouse to be put in their outdoor run at around 6 weeks. They don't need grit whilst on crumb.
