I wish to know if all sunflower seeds are edible for humans and chickens.

Yes, but it's a devil of a job getting them out of their shells  I really don't like cracking them with my teeth and spitting the shells out

Yes - they're quite the delicacy when salted but do need shelling first as their shells are very sharp (human and chicken problem) and could lead to compacted crop for your hens...

Hi all,
Sorry about the delay in replying.
My chickens have now started to eat the Sunflower seeds without me taking them out of the shells. They seem to like them.
I guess that gives them a bit of roughage instead of grit.
But yes, they are nice after getting them out of the shell which I do by pinching the wide part. Makes it easier.
