Rain at Last
« on: April 22, 2011, 20:12 »
It is bucking down here in North Cheshire , it is the 1st rain that we have had in 5 or 6 weeks and is most welcome.

The strange thing is that it has been red hot here all day with clear blue sky's.
About 15 minutes before the rain started we were sat out in t/shirt and shorts and now is ts pouring down.

How about where you are?

I wish that 'Bank Holiday' magic would work here. :)

We're forecast the risk of a couple of heavy, possibly thundery showers tomorrow afternoon, then colder and wetter on Monday.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Been dry here for about 6 weeks now. They say rain's forecast either saturday or sunday but we'll have to see....

Digging over my other lotty trying to get the, what seems like concreted in weeds out, it's brick hard and dry there.  :(

And, there's no water supply at this one. I've got to use barrels filled at home.  :tongue2:

For once, on a bank holiday we'd like some rain here too.

very dry here in Sheffield. The council has still not turned the water on yet - problem with a leak apparently, so I am down to my last few drops in my water butts.

My second water butt is now almost empty so I could do with a heavy downpour. Not so bothered about the plants in the open ground but my containers are getting through gallons of water with this hot weather.

We`ve had no rain yet. My little weather station is forecasting rain yet at the same time air pressure is increasing which is contradictory. Currently it is 1008 millibars.
I`m left handed, what`s your excuse?

Hasn't rained, worthy of the name, for weeks here in Shropshire all dry and dusty more like July/Aug conditions than Mar/April. It tried to rain late afternoon today just enough to wet the flagstones but it was all over in less than 20 mins. We could do with some April showers I'm into a watering routine more like mid summer than late spring.

Real & Smooth radio stations predicted we'd have our first drop or two around 5pm today. They weren't wrong! At 5.02pm, that's exactly what happened .

Two hours later, the heavens opened along with the odd roll of thunder.
I went out on slug & snail patrol a few minutes ago to find a frog about to enjoy it's supper  :D

rain ,what rain ? Have'nt seen any rain for about 5 weeks here on the coast of north east lincolnshire , weather forecasters say we might get a shower in the next few days , so with a might i will water everything in case we don't. we have'nt had the temperatures like some are experiencing cos we get a breeze of the north sea most of the time , you lucky people . drive 10 miles inland and you can get 8 degrees warmer temperatures. I'll be down tomorrow to water and transfer my brassicas seedlings into 3 inch pots and harden off. :)
