Growing on perennial plug plants, heat or no heat?
« on: March 31, 2013, 09:26 »
I received my perennial plug plant offer from T&M and have moved the plugs into small pots. The nights are still cold and my greenhouse isn't heated, but so far all the seedlings in there have survived as I cover them with fleece every night. Is it Ok to move the perennial plants into the greenhouse as well? I have 'stabilised' them indoors for a few days but as there is sun (yes that word) forecast, albeit still very cold, I thought they would benefit from the additional light? I could bring them back indoors in the evenings.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

All my perennial plugs are out in the greenhouse, fleece them for the first few nights  so they can acclimatise. Then leave them to get on with it.  :)

It may depend partly in what the plants are, but the plug plants I received from T&M in the autumn, which ended up being mainly primulas, have spent the winter in the cold frame. Unscathed.
