I have had a letter for my pre op assesment, after 2yrs of waiting,at last i will get my loose hip removed and a new one put in,this time it will be in straight and it will not be loose.
I will have to try depending on the weather,on getting my ground dug and my spuds in,and every thing else in need to do done before i go in.Fingers crossed it will go ahead and it won't be cancelled at the last second.Lillileaf

Hope it all happens soon, and goes well.
-
Fingers crossed here as well :)
-
I had mine done a few years ago but all went ok. I do hope you get yours done properly this time and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
-
Best wishes Lillileaf that it all goes smoothly & you are soon up & about. Might be worth getting some help for this season even if you have to pay, you don’t want to hinder your recovery.
-
If your post op recovery coincides with the manic early growing and sowing season, perhaps consider covering some of your plot, and maybe growing a little less of everything than you usually do in a smaller space. That way, if you can't get help, at least you will be able to take things gently and still have a little of everything you like. Quite a few veg can be sown as a second, later crop, so if you are up to it later in the season you could uncover more ground for second sowings.
All the best, and I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

Thank you soooo much for all your kind wishes and thoughts,i think this weekend will be nice so I will be in the spud patch digging away.
I have already sewn my onions and my toms, the toms are up,just sewn a few more.
Also potted some sweet peppers,i put the seeds in to late last year I had not realised how long they take to grow.
I will get my peas started and my runner beans in the next few weeks.
Once again
Thank you
-
Bit early for runner beans, you don’t plant out until after the last frost, so for me would be at least May
-
Lillileaf, as said it's far too early for beans except broad beans, and don't forget that you will have to cope with the after-effects of the op, not just the pain bit but your body will need to recover as well. Keep things to a minimum for this year and allow yourself some me-time to get better properly.
-
I am not good at waiting, not a good patient either,i am a person that needs to be busy all the time, they ask you to do a lot of walking after the operation so your muscles will get stronger.
The first hip op I had it done on the Wednesday and I was out on the Friday, they seem to kick you out asap,i know this will be a bigger op as they have to remove the old parts first, then prepare every thing for the new implant it may take between 5 and 8 hrs,so I better behave myself .
-
I have been for the pre op assessment so its not going to be long, they said they have to get it done in the next 8wks,i thought i was having the right one done again, but it turns out i am having the left one done first, even better they will do both this year :)i won't be going to the back of the line,i have already waited 89 wks,i would not like to wait another 2yrs,i would be on my hands and knees by then.Lillileaf
-
That must be a great relief to you, knowing you are finally(89 weeks phew)going to get sorted. I wish you all the very best for your operations & hope you are soon gardening to your hearts desire on your new pins 😊🍾
-
Thank you snowdrops for your kind words,i will be so glad to get it done, only thing sick pay does not go very far £89.35per week,i need to find out if there is any other help out there ,at least its a nice time of year to have the time off,but it does not pay the rent .
-
Yes i am still waiting the 8 wks since the pre op has passed :(,then the hospital rang on wednesday 25/4/18,to say they can book me in for monday 30/4/18 yippee,so now im getting all the last jobs done in the garden and in the house,i need to go in the day before sunday the 29th.
All going very well, some thing is going to happen?,yes it does i get a phone call yesterday and its CANCELLED,i did not no weather to cry or scream, very bad mood follows , i have to tell the boss after she has made plans while i am off,she was sad for me its been cancelled and not to worry.
Then i get a message to say your op is all booked for monday, this was from the surgeons secretary it has her taken 2 days to send details of where to go???,she did not no it has been cancelled, don't these people talk to each other?.Lllileaf.
-
That is bad news Lillileaf :( I hope they can reschedule fairly quickly for you and manage to get the correct message through next time.
-
I hope you have better news soon, Lillileaf, it must have been such a disappointment for you. As you say, there is such a lot to organise before going into hospital, as well as the fact that life tends to be put on a bit of a hold until the date is set. Let us know how you get on won't you.
-
Aw Lillyleaf! It seems to be up to the patient nowadays to determine via various phone calls to various departments as to what's actually happening and when. Is your op the one where it's not as invasive as the usual type, in which case you do recover more quickly and don't have as much pain etc to deal with. I hope that during the op you feel like you're floating on a lovely white fluffy cloud - it's a wonderful feeling! I'm having an op on Monday as well for a cataract in my left eye, then will have the other one done later on. My optician said I had them, the NHS consultant I saw said I didn't, optician very annoyed, so I went private and yo! Got them in both eyes! Hey - let's compare notes next week and so hope you get free of all your pains. Love from GG xxxxx

Thank you so much everyone, my when it happens who knows when, it had gone wrong as soon as it was done last time and that was 7yrs ago.
This time they will be taking the loose one out, if its not loose at the bottom they will have to saw into the bone and loosen it that way, which knowing my luck that is what will happen .
So my date is some time in may i at get a cancellation i hope .
But when it is done i will be sooo much better, then i will be on the waiting list for the other hip, they won't do it yet they say there is still some life left in it.
GG thank you and good luck with every thing hope all goes well for you ;)

The management systems at Ysbyty Gwynedd are a joke. Great doctors and nurses, terrible admin system. I wrote to them about where they went wrong with me and some suggestions on how to improve it, reducing costs and saving time for medical staff. Their reaction was to handle it as a complaint, take 3 months to deal with it and send a reply that boiled down to "You've had your operation"
However, good luck for whenever they do the replacement. They have the technology and can rebuild you!
-
Thanks John yes they can re-build me but will they get it right this time  who knows  i have to laugh other wise id cry :(,just wait and see i will be back on my bike asap.
-
You keep holding on there Lilyleaf and don't stand for any nonsense or messing about! Had my first eye op and all went really well. I so hope you have the same experience and please give us regular updates as and when.
-
Pleased it went well GG, will be lovely for you when both are done. I’m dreading getting cataracts as I hate anything to do with eyes.
-
Pleased to hear that your operation went ahead, and went well, GG. Just one more to go, and you'll be as good as new! Take it easy while you recover, though.
-
I am very pleased all went well, take care have a nice rest, hope you get the nice weather you can sit out side and be the lady of the manor :lol:let people bring tea and cakes or what ever you need.
Look after your self hope you are a better patient than i am .Lillileaf

Oh - thanks all for that - much appreciated. Am getting some TLC and being careful walking around as my eyes aren't working in synch at the moment. It's like I've imbibed rather too many tinctures - ha! Now it's your turn LL to get sorted out and I hope your supply of TLC, good food and tinctures a-plenty, and your favourite bath /shower lotions never run dry! ;)
-
Lilyleaf - how's it going so far?
-
Hows it going so far  i am still waiting :( i am hoping it is going to happen this week fingers crossed, but as John said, the admin is a joke,i have had no letter for a date and where to go,so i rang them up on friday and got all the details i needed.
The lady i spoke to was not the secretary to the consultant but she did say that the secretary is very slow >:( ,i did my best to keep calm .
But it may get cancelled yet even on the day,i will keep you informed of progress if any.Lillileaf

Yeah, NHS communication is a complete disaster whether it be via their various PC systems which don't always talk to each other, people who couldn't manage to run a bath never mind a department, total lack of knowing how to work efficiently, and some who just don't care anymore. You'll probably get your letter on the day you're supposed to go in so thank goodness you rang up to see what's going on. Having any sort of intrusive op means the patient has to do a lot of organising beforehand which doesn't seem to be taken into account by admin staff. Lilyleaf, if you don't mind me asking, what sort of hip replacement will it be like all metal or a mix like mine as I just saw something on the news this morning about problems with metal hip replacements made by a particular firm. If you want to PM me about it that's fine. Fingers and toes crossed for you. GG x
