Well to set everyone off on the curry munchies....
Chicken curry, our daughter is coming to cook for us later & our son,partner & baby are coming to share it with us so the more the merrier😀

Roast beef roast potatoes, roast parsnips and yorkshires today.
Picked parsnips, brussels sprouts, leeks, carrots and a cabbage.
Some Roosters from the potato shed.
Bought swede and our frozen peas.
Gravy made with some of the turkey stock.
Waitrose all butter mince pies that they were selling off for 50p a pack Friday and custard.

Roast beef for us as well with roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots and sprouts. Going to batch bake some Yorkshires to go in the freezer to finish of the goats milk.

Individual beef wellingtons (bought) plus roasted squash and green beans from the freezer. Melt in the middle chocolate puds (also bought) and cream for pud.
No time to cook from scratch tonight, but it was all very nice :)

Christmas roast beef & gravy from the freezer( only got another 15+ portions to go) probably with roast pots & there's a parsnip left from the ones I dug up Christmas Eve, carrots, peas & beans from the freezer or there might be some pre Christmas broccoli

Just made a load of naan to go with some leftover beef for a curry
Had a nice walk down to to the beach after lunch and popped into Waitrose on way back and bought a few spicy chutneys to spread on the naan.
Picked up a load of seaweed at the beach, I'm sure it smelt but noone seemed to notice it in waitrose in the bag I was carrying.
They were also selling off Fiona Cairns decorated Christmas cakes on the counter, was £30 now £1. So going to mix it into some ice cream for afters and to keep in the freezer.
All the pretty icing is in the bin.

Minced up yesterdays left over roast beef, going to try cubed potato topping as I'm not a big fan of mash. Found a few sprouts left in the back of the fridge and some green beans in the freezer. Not too keen to spend much time in the kitchen as we have been refreshing all the paintwork there yesterday and today and it smells a bit 'glossy'. :D

Well I thought I was going to have to go into work, but I got a break, so a speedy spag bol was conjured up with mince and tomato sauce from the freezer.
The pie maker has arrived though and is stashed, so watch this space :lol:

Yesterday we finished off all the Christmas cheeses on a giant homemade sharing pizza, was yum!

Tonight was salmon fillets and veggie rice, which featured a lot of squash. I found my last Tromba squash has started to go soft in the shed ::)
There is another bag of cubed squash in the fridge and the rest has been roasted and frozen for future use in soups :)

I've cooked Linda Mac veggie sausages, last before they go out of date and filled the plate with mixed veg from the freezer. Spoon standing and mint sauce of course.

I don't think my Tromba squashes had ripened properly. I had 2 with no seeds in as I said on a thread elsewhere. The 3rd had a few seeds, but this was the biggest of the lot and had quite a lot of seeds. The chickens were delighted as they love the pulpy bits and seeds out of any squash :lol:
The skins just weren't that firm though. The spaghetti squash and Buffy Ball are holding well, but they had developed tough skins, despite the poor season.

Long time since I have had or seen rabbit.
Where do you get that from?
My cat enjoys the rabbit felix pouches.
Remember as a kid in the 60s and 70s having it in pies and casseroles quite a lot.
Also, remember them hanging outside the butchers windows in the 60s.
Think it went out of favour after then.
Not sure a butcher would be allowed to display them like that now.
Tonight is a shepherds pie made from some leftover Sunday roast lamb and the fatty gravy.
Using my frozen mash from some Maris frozen last September and a good picking of carrots from the patio.
Just picked a good helping of fresh Kale to go with.
Tradition here to have a good chunk of bread on the side too, so making a quick cottage loaf to break up in chunks.

Sadly rabbits are nowhere near as numerous as they used to be around my corner of Wales. The one I'm eating was shot on a golf course by a friend who has a pest control business. I'll be providing some rainbow trout in the spring in exchange. :)

I've been working evenings, so tonight is curry fest night :D
There is cold roast lamb from the weekend and homemade tomato sauce defrosting. That with some plot greens will be one curry. There's also dhal with squash defrosting and I'll do some pilau rice.

Chicken, carrot, mushroom, celery, HM chicken stock, white wine in a slow casserole.
Just doing some mini roasties to go with and picked a few Brussels sprouts a moment ago in the snow.

No fish Friday here today.
Gammon rounds, black pudding, fried eggs, large mushrooms, HM chips, baked beans and fried bread in some leftover turkey fat.
Basically a fry up.
Just making some baguettes now, some will be used for the fried bread.
Shops were selling off mince pies again, 25p for six packs. So will chop them up and mix with loads of custard.

Working tonight, so OH has a HM macaroni cheese to heat up when he gets in and I'll see how I feel later.
Tomorrow is pie day :D :D :D At last, a chance to get the pie maker out of the box. Job no. 2 has foiled my plans so far by calling me in every 5 minutes ::) Currently debating chicken pies with white sauce and veg, or beef mince and something :unsure:

I went with the chicken pie idea, so the filling is made and is cooling, the pie maker has had its non-stick surface seasoned and the pastry is on hand.
Mash, peas and spoon standing are also going to feature on the menu :D

I've made a chunky tomato, pepper, onion and garlic sauce to go on a pork chop tonight, with French beans and carrots.
I'll cook some chicken in the rest of the sauce tomorrow.

Very good :) What a great little gadget and it folds away and tucks into a tiny space in the cupboard. As I was being idle, I had a block of bought shortcrust and half does 2 pies. I also made too much filling, so we will be having a rerun of chicken pie on Monday night :D
Tonight is gammon shanks, plot spuds, braised red cabbage from the freezer, roasted squash (once I have raided the shed) and possibly something green as well. Its a dreak, dreary day and we need comfort food :)

Also picked a load of small sage leaves to make a sage stuffing.

Some of last years frozen rhubarb crumble and custard.

I've got chicken cooked in a tomato sauce and was going to plot to pick greens, but as it's raining ::) I'll have it with freezer veg and roast squash instead.

The marrows are going soft so it is marrow korma tonight, with beetroot curry and rice.
(I made marrow, ginger and chilli soup for lunch and I'll do some more marrow soups for the freezer to use them up before they are only fit for the compost. Good job for a soggy day!)

Was leftover Sunday roast chicken in a curry last night.
Just boiling up the chicken bones and some veg for frozen stock.
Will use some of the stock with the rest of the leftover Sunday Roast Chicken in a Chicken Supreme of peas, sweetcorn, mushrooms and cream, served with some Bucatini.

Tomato, mushroom and ham omelette for me and SWMBO and ashamedly spaghetti on toast with meatballs for my 3 girls.
We did have HM lasagne last night with roasted new potato's, green beans and sprouts "just for information, sprouts do not go well with lasagne.
We tend to do an easy tea for the girls once a week and on a Friday or Saturday they get takeaway.
Moving forward though we will be doing what we used to do which is make home made pizza on a Friday instead of takeaways.

We were going to have friends and neighbours round tonight for a cosy meal together, probably a casserole.
But inspired by some neighbours, we've invited them and our friends round for an evening of Trump party fun.
Our menu tonight goes like this;

I'm a day behind everyone else, because I'm thinking about fish for tonight :lol: There are mackerel fillets in the freezer and I've just dug out some cooked plot borlotti beans and hm tomato sauce.
The final combination will come to me later, but my red pepper paste has just arrived (an idea from another thread) and I want to try it out :D

It was southern fried chicken and chips from the chippy for us last night, making our way home late.
Tonight it is risotto made with turkey stock with the last of the salami chopped in it and some hunter beans from the freezer for colour.
The CBA fairy has taken up residence here - I look in the freezer and cant think of a thing I want to cook ... :(

Quite a heavy frost here this morning, so trowel had to come to the rescue to break the ground to pull up some leeks and parsnips. Even the brussels sprouts and some tops took some pulling off.
Roast lamb today, some desiree from the potato shed.
Picked some froze mint for some mint sauce.
Bought swede and carrots.
Rhubarb has made an appearance in garden, not ready for picking but pulled some of last years from the freezer to have with custard.

I've got to go to work later, so we are having roast chicken leg, baked potato, cabbage and spoon standing in a bit. The shift is from 4pm until we finish. I don't like the sound of that, so decided some stick to your ribs food was needed for lunch :lol:

Trying to think of something vaguely scottish for tonight. Not a haggis fan, no smoked haddock in the freezer for cullen skink, or aberdeen angus beef or smoked salmon (the salmon in there is farmed and from god-know-where). Dont want to deep fry a pizza (the first time I saw this for real in Glasgow my jaw literally dropped) or a mars bar if I had one .... turkey last night so cock-a-leekie soup a bit samey .... Suppose I could do some lorne (square) sausages with oatcakes, cabbage and mashed swede. Inspiration needed!!!

Deep fried pizza is a fave up there. You can buy it in the chip shop, where everything goes in the fryer unless you say otherwise :lol:
What about doing the square sausage with neeps and tatties and you could add a splash of scotch to the gravy :)

I've had an extremely frustrating day so I bought a white sliced loaf on the way home and the is plan for a chip butty with a dollop of ketchup or perhaps mayo :unsure:

Last night was a bit of a "eat up the leftovers" night, with the rest of the turkey casserole from earlier in the week, some beetroot gratin from the freezer, steamed cabbage and mash.
Tonight - being chinese new year and the year of the rooster, it will be hot and spicy chicken wings, stir fried pork belly (coop bargain) with vegetables and cabbage steamed in soy sauce. Rice. That should be a good start to a prosperous year, I hope.
There is a new butchers opened in the village and I made the mistake of calling in this morning. Oh the indecision! :unsure: :unsure: Lots of lovely stuff, standards, unusual cuts, game, lovely cheese, upstairs his brother the chef is turning out pies and ready meals .... I came out with a lot more than I meant to get so that has got my cooking mojo back in gear again! :D Stashed in the fridge for tomorrow when I have more time.

DD suggested she come & do pasta tonight, so she is in the garage!🤔 Whilst dad is making basil pasta to go with the bolognaise DD made. Hubby has also made garlic baguettes that DD has just tasted & told him to get a stall on the farmers market, so he's walking round with askip in his step. I'm just waiting, my time will come no doubt when it's clear up time!😏 & boy do they make a mess

Busy day here, so chilli from the freezer and some rice for tea :)
There were some squashes in the shed that were developing spots on the skins, so I've had an oven full roasting for the freezer. I might stir some in to bulk out the veg content.

Coincidentally I took a detour this morning passing the nearest butchers and found them open at 7am :ohmy: it would have been rude not to stop. ::)
Not the worlds best to be honest, but I did pick up some tomato sausages (I know, I could make my own but they were only 50p each ... ) added mash, mushrooms and some of the frozen spinach I usually keep for curry time - made a reasonable meal.

In the drizzle this morning, but nice to have some rain at last, picked a half bucket load of Brussels Spouts, a few leeks, parsnips carrots, sage and a colander full of spinach.
Roast pork today, with bacon wrapped sage and onion stuffing balls and HM apple sauce.
Our raspberries from the freezer going in a jelly for afters.

An easy carve duck I unearthed from the freezer. This was bought for Christmas, then never used :blush: I'm trying to empty the freezer out to defrost it, so time it saw the light of day.
Roasties, squash and cabbage to go with it. The duck has cherry stuffing, so I might open a jar of one of my jellies and melt a spoonful into the gravy to echo the fruity theme :)

bought a tray of pheasant legs from the butcher yesterday, so I am going to cook them in a bourguignonne sauce, then when falling off the sinews, strip the meat from the bones (a messy job) and very well flavoured pheasant bourg. with mash and greens tonight. The bones and bits will join similar from the chicken last night and for tomorrow in a stock ... Best get on with it then! ::)

Roast chicken & all the trimmings, might find the leftover cheese sauce in the freezer as I've got some cauliflower, or I could save it for with sausages in the week, yes that's what ill do as that will save me getting up & disturbing the cat who has taken to getting up on my lap recently! 😅

I am eating soft food, having bent my front teeth in a running accident :wacko: I made a pork casserole, which was way lush, but most of the meat ended up on my husband's plate as I can't eat it yet
Shepherd's pie tomorrow, minus the shepherd probably. Mash, mash and more mash! Getting sick of the sight of scrambled egg and mash! :D

Leftover duck reheated in the oven, baked potatoes, roast squash, greens and the last of the sweetcorn from the freezer. All with gravy and bread as well for those who wanted to wipe every last trace from their plates ::)
OH was then hopefully looking round for pudding - I swear he has hollow legs :lol:

I remember the feeling when I was part way through dental work! Hope your teeth are starting to feel better.
Last night was chinese pancakes (chicken cooked with star anise and soy, stripped off the bone, shredded spring onion and carrot, hoisin sauce, chinese pancakes) and special stir fried rice (with egg, bacon, onion, carrot and french beans).
Tonight will be the other half of the pheasant stew, with mash and cabbage. I think.

Smoked mackerel on a bed of (greenhouse) rocket, tater wedges and probably red pepper with a garlicky, lemon mayonnaise.

Fried the mince, then the onions, garlic and peppers, looked for kidney beans, any beans - only baked beans :blush: unusual for me ::)
Oh well, the chilli is a little on the sweet side, I'll admit - but not a total disaster :lol:
There's a bowl of salad to go with it.

Slow cooker has been on all day with a steak and kidney casserole.
Served with Roast (our Rooster) potatoes and some just picked Kale.
Arctic roll for afters.

Gave up trying to get any peel off. I had some with my dinner and made a vat of pumpkin and red pepper soup for tomorrow with the rest

I've noticed that one of the last 3 marrows in store is going soft, so stuffed marrow on buttered potatoes tonight I think.

I had cold chicken, salad and hm focaccia late last night when I got in from work. The bread wasn't made by me, but was a pressie from a customer that OH did a favour for. It was superb as well. I think I need to get his recipe ;)
Tonight is undecided so far. I am home alone as OH is helping out on an overnight sleepover for a load of cubs scouts at one of the big museums in London. Can you imagine trying to get that lot calmed down enough to sleep :wacko: Rather him than me :lol:

We are on a big turkey casserole from the slow cooker with lots and lots of veggies and some turkey .... Couscous and sprouts (just fetched) to go with.

Daughter came & cooked buttered chicken in a curry sauce with rice & tomato, mint & onion chutney, carrot & cress salad, poppodoms. Hubby made some lovely naan breads, more peshwari than plain. All in all a lovely meal

It was going to be chicken stew and dumplings, but got called to my mother's house to sort some stuff out for her. We ended up with fish and chips hurredly bought on the way home. That was a pretty good sub, come to think about it :D

Big experiment tonight with homemade silken tofu. The soy milk is currently cooling in the fridge and so far seems promising. I think some braised pork and veg, plus a rice dish to go with it :)

Roast Beef and Yorkshire puds.
Bought swede, broccoli and some giant onions that will be boiled.

We will be having some roast beef sandwiches and horseradish for supper.
A half and half loaf sandwich loaf is breadmaking nicely now.

It was pheasant bourguignon last night - the cooking veggies from when I pot roasted the bird with red wine and the scraps from the carcase - with mash and sprouts. That little bird has done us well; 3 meals for 2 (hot, cold and scraps) plus a stock waiting in the fridge. I don't think I can be counted as extravagant! ::)
Tonight will be pasta in leek and mustard sauce - the last of the leeks came up yesterday. And don't anyone mention leek moth around here. :mad:

Late back yesterday, so made do with toast. Making up for it tonight with slow roasted duck legs, baked potatoes, braised red cabbage from the freezer and whatever else I find in the fridge.
I need to get the oven on as I discovered the last spaghetti squash in the shed was developing 'odd' marks on the skin. Not mould, yet, but not looking right :unsure: We can eat some and freeze some. That just leaves a few Buffy Ball, which still look perfect.

I found a reduced pack of chicken thighs at the Co op this morning, so it's a traybake for them, with onions, garlic, red peppers and tomatoes, with a salad side.
I think after the nudge from NS I'll add a sliced squash to the tray for soup tomorrow :D

Last night was slow cooker lemon chicken, with a lemon that I brought back from France a month plus back. Needed eating!! Lots of roast veg with it and stuffing balls.
Tonight will be cold chicken (surprise!), with the left over veg and stuffing, and some sprouts for fresh green on the side. Which gives me a good reason to spend an hour down the lottie once this mist clears.

I made a six egg spanish omelette late last night and served with some of our toasted sesame bread, as we went out for a few drinks with friends for the evening.
Not done that for long time, it was lovely.

I made Ottolenghi's sour cream pastry and made a pie with a vegetable samosa-type filling.
The pastry was very short, so the pie didn't look pretty, but it tasted lovely :) Had a shredded salad with it.

Last night was squash and cheese dauphinoise, with a few found leek tops. Looked pretty with the white, orange and green layers, and a crunchy top decorated with a sliced tomato.
Then pasta here tonight - pasta bake with the last of the leeks that I made earlier in the week. Nice and easy..... out of the fridge and into the microwave.

I've still got the lurgy and feel cold today, so I've put a load of veg, some lentils and about 2 tablespoons of mince, I found in the freezer, into in my big pan and put it on a low heat.
That'll do lunch and tea while I veg out on the sofa, the cat has decided to keep me company :D

I've filled the slow cooker with loads of veggies and floated sausages on it to cook gently, with a sauce made from the ends of some red wine, the excess liquid from the tomato sauce last night, the rinsing out of marmite and mustard jars, a healthy splash of worcester sauce. There is enough for two nights I'll do some dumplings at the end ..... and purple sprouts!

Thanks CQ, it's a recipe I've done for over 30 years, makes a wonderful soup with the stocked carcass, its sweet martini but today I used up the last drop of pimms which worked equally well. So now I can start on the new bottle of pimms, when I get some homegrown strawberries & mint! Might be a few months hey?

One pot chicken & veg.
Frozen mixed veg and chopped onion cooked in a little chicken stock, then added sliced chicken breast and mushrooms - when cooked added a little cornflower/water mix and a knob of butter to thicken. Nom nom :)

Tonight is the other cottage pie, made a day or so ago. With kale - the last plants were cleared by OH yesterday, so there was a lot of leaf washing yesterday and big bags of green in the fridge to use. Upside - a very easy day today! :)

Bought some plaice fillets on special offer at t*sco this afternoon, and steamed them in foil packets with lemon and butter. Served with parsley pots, kale and runners. I have to say that the fish was a bit underwhelming, but the veggies were good!

Been digging on the plot again so tea is an expanding feast tonight.
There are baked potatoes, pork chops, some of the last Buffy Ball squash from the shed and braised red cabbage from the freezer already on the go. Spoon standing will be added.

It's been ages since I had some yellow frizbees :( The girls are only giving me 2 eggs a week now and it feels wasteful to use them like that. I could replace them but I owe them a good retirement considering the surplus I given away over the years.
Tonight I'll be using last weeks eggs for a mushroom omelette to go with spicy wedges - just can't decide on the veg either peas, mushy peas or baked beans. ::)

Monday was ... :unsure: ... oh yeah - a fish inspiration thingy out of a box (not very inspiring imo) and last night was a late one, so OH got pasta bake to heat up and I had chicken salad stuffed in a wholemeal pitta bread when I got home.
Tonight I have a staff meeting at job no.2 - oh the joy :nowink: - so more pasta bake for OH and I'll see how I feel when I get in.

I've just done a freezer dive (I am trying to focus on using what we have) and come up with another box of beef casserole and a bag of beans... add some jacket spuds (also To Be Used) and we should be good.
I found more stock than I thought we had, so will have to give that some thought for the future ... :unsure: I want to make enough space for the ice cream .... ::)

Last night was toad in the hole with lots of roasted veg, runner beans and onion gravy.
For tonight - I got a big beef joint marked down in the co-op - so half to the freezer (Nooooo! I am supposed to be emptying the freezer! ::)) and the other half into the slow cooker for coffee pot roast. We will have some sliced tonight with jackets and veg tbd, and some more in the gravy when we get in late tomorrow. Howzat for organised! :D

Last night was a salad with our first mixed lettuce picking of the season.
Just put a slow cooker on of diced pork, baked beans and our frozen sweetcorn and our frozen tomato paste.
Will serve with our desiree roasties from freezer and some fresh picked spinach.

Last night was the gravy from cooking the beef, supplemented with some carrots and little potatoes, some of the beef chunked into it, and cauliflower on the side. Easy to heat through in the m/w when we got in late. Note : good people avoided the chippy on the way home! :)
Tonight is Mrs Singh's winter veg pilau, which I do in the slow cooker.

As we had a fish and chips lunch out yesterday, it was a six egg Spanish omelette for tea with herbs from the garden and mushrooms, cheese and tomato all whisked in.
Mince casserole and spinach for lunch and a spaghetti bolognaise for tea.
Hot cross buns have all been eaten that I made, so just baking some more.

I got treated to an indian takeaway tonight, so chicken dhansak, pilau rice and a spinach side dish for me. Oh ordered jalfrezi and managed to eat half of a raw chilli pepper. Now he's moaning about heartburn. Can't think why ::)

Homemade tempura of spring veg and leaves from the garden - asparagus spears, quartered small globe artichokes, flower spears from good king henry (wild greens really but I grow them in a shady border), sweet cicely leaves, sorrel leaves and garlic chives. Salad on the side.
It was a little bit of a fiddle to make, but absolutely delicious :D

My bank texted me to confirm the purchases we all mine - not one of them very big but all contactless ... Security excellent but it made the point!) tonight it is grilled (bargain t*sco) turkey steaks with grilled mushrooms, jackets and runners. And a medicinal drop or two!!

Heading to the US for inspiration today - glazed chicken breasts, cajun spiced wedges and a sweetcorn casserole (sweetcorn, peppers, butter, cream and seasoning stirred together, turned into a baking dish and put in the oven).

Last night I was out doing a course until expected 8.30pm (actually we finished a bit early) so I left a pork casserole in the slow cooker, with a loaf in the bread machine and strict instructions to take it out at 8pm. Worked well.
Tonight is cottage pie and runners - I'll make two while I am at it (with lots of veg hidden in there) so there will be an easy dinner for before the Allotment Society Meeting (aka a pint and a whinge) tomorrow.

Bought 1/2lb of mince & a focaccia on our travels today & then some posh dried pasta & a basil & tomato sauce (last 2 were from the lovely farm shop at Tebay services), so its meatballs in tomato & Basil sauce with tagliatelle & focaccia 😊
Tomorrow it's the 2 chicken breasts in a garlic, onion & tomato sauce with wedges & maybe fried rice, that just about uses everything up before we head home on Friday

Its a neighbourhood meeting and we are hosting tonight.
Its a monthly thing and its usually pizza or a curry.
The pizzas have all been bought in from shops or takeaway. The last time it was papa johns and everybody agreed they were just disgusting. Dominoes the time before and they did not go down that well either.
So I'm making twelve of my own with our own frozen tomato paste.
Picked some fresh chives, sage and parsley from the garden. Had to buy some basil, ours is about an inch high at mo.
Went to lidl for toppings;
A load of different cheeses, cheddar, smoked cheddar, mozzarella, Brie, Gorgonzola, Emmental and Grana Padano
Salami packs, German sausage, Polish Krakowska, pepperoni.
Olives, will serve as a side dish as not everyone likes.
Be making some lamb koftas too, with some lamb mince.
Will make a big side salad using baby spinach and some of our lettuce thats growing in the greenhouse, but substituted with some bought lettuce too and just going to make a few jugs of different homemade mayonaise dressings.
Real shame its not summer as could add homegrown sliced toms and loads more different lettuce leaves.
Someone else is bringing round two chocolate cakes of some sort.

Tonight it is grilled turkey steaks, mushrooms and tomatoes, with jackets and runners. I'm working on making space in the freezer for the ice cream... I just need some summer sunshine to go with it!

My neighbourhood pizza went down well, everybody loved it.
Tonight its kippers with a homemade foccacia bread full of herbs, our frozen tomato paste and some brie.
We got a 2 for 1 banana pack deal today so going to make a quick banana ice cream, that's chopped bananas in the in the freezer for 1 hour, whizz in food processor with milk and our yogurt and its done. Will crush some ginger nut biscuits s to sprinkle on top.

Bought some special offer butchers counter sausages in waitrose. Any eight for £1.
I chose Waitrose Gourmet Pork.
When they weighed them, they would normally be £9. They better be good.
So will be having sausage, our frozen mash and tinned tomatoes.
A mix of tomato ketchup and our own frozen tomato paste mixed to pour over.

Last night was a mushroom risotto with hm turkey stock. Lots of pecorino cheese on top. Good for grumpy people - we were both a bit cold and achy.
Tonight is a beef stew - the red wine cooking liquid from the beef joint earlier in the week, with the last of the joint chopped into it and a whole lot of vegs (from the freezer) added. With couscous I think.
Tomorrow I am a Poll Clerk in the local elections, so I have to pack up my breakfast, lunch and dinner to take and leave him dinner to reheat. Lunch he can be creative! It is going to be a chilly day!

Last night I cooked a chicken leg in spiced up panko breadcrumbs with spicy veg rice.
Made too much spicy rice so I'll add some chorizo and hardboiled egg to the mix for tonight :D

Tonight will be yesterday's fish pie from the freezer as DD invited us to hers at the last minute yesterday for dinner from her pizza oven, no not pizza chicken, that I bought on the way, prepared, hubby lit the fire, I made the potato salad, bean salad, garlic bread ready for when she got home from work!! Think we woz tricked 😄 She cooked the chicken & garlic bread though 😊

Tonight is going to be a veg korma (based around the chunk of squash that has been hanging around in the fridge too long), a beetroot and chard curry (from the freezer) and rice. Cuc raita on the side.

Chilli from the freezer, rice and a veggie of some sort. The CBA fairy is hovering around, so it could be frozen peas.
The chilli is homemade with chunks of stewing steak and lots of veg, so its not so bad. I like making big batches of stuff like that so there is a fallback option in the freezer for days like these :)

Will pick some rhubarb to have with some custard.

I had a pepper and some lamb mince, so was going to cook stuffed peppers.
When I unwrapped the pepper it was a bit squidgy on one side, so couldn't do that :(
I ended up chopping it up with an onion and frying it off with the mince, and turning it into a pasta sauce :D
Only just enough pasta in the cupboard, as well.

Last night was chicken in mushroom and tarragon sauce, runners and jackets (almost the end of last years potatoes).
Tonight we will be back lateish and so I have 3 small pots of curries out of the freezer (vag korma, beetroot and bengali pots with kale according to the lids) and I'll pre cook the rice. All nuked when we get in and dinner on the table asap! plus some more freezer clearing ... :)

Well yesterday was a bit of a disaster! First the kettle goes bang and takes the consumer unit RCB out. Sigh - but it must be 30 yrs old so doesn't owe us anything.
Then late in for dinner, I put the casseroles of curries and rice into the microwave and they didn't get warm. Too much too cold? give it a bit longer, put them in one at a time .... nope. Eventually I have to decide it is dead. The light might be on and the turntable turning, but still dead. :( Curries tipped into pans and rice into the oven .... took ages instead of being quick. Bah. >:(
Tonight it is spicy chicken wings (slo cooker) and rice (pan), stirfried veg (fridge clear). What will go bang today? :unsure:

Home late last night after a few days away visiting, so a couple southern spiced chicken fillets in the oven, with oven chips and a salad on the side.

I've faffed enough this morning making a) the first ice cream of the season (honey and apricot) and b) some custard to add to some puree for more ice cream tomorrow and c) freezing the slow cooker beans cooked overnight and d) lunch (sort of frittera of leftovers). It is now too hot to have anything more to do with the kitchen bar the barest minimum .... so have pulled some pasta sauce and some meatballs out the freezer. Cook pasta and heat through. Grate cheese. Done! :D

Pizza - the machine does the dough and I only have to finish it off. So mozzarella and tomato sauce are out of the freezer, pepperoni is in the fridge and I'll make it up from there. ::)

Last night was the first bbq of the season in this house - required building the bbq first! Heyho - it worked fine when done and I kept the eating simple just in case. Veggie spikes (courgette, mushroom, pepper, banana), large cumberland sausages (from the local butcher and not 89p ea, Lardman!) and turkey steaks marinated in rice wine and hoisin sauce. Pittas (wimped out and bought them) and green salad to serve.
Today is a big planting day so I have put a chicken to poach in the slow cooker ready for our return - red onions, garlic in tomato juice and red wine with bayleaves as the liquid and the cavity stuffed full of marjoram and thyme. Couscous with veg mixed through to go with.

Yesterday I found a half price pack of beef mince and one of pork mince in the reduced section at the Co-op. So ... there is a meatball recipe that I wanted to try and I had all the other ingredients so I could do a batch for the evening and the rest would be really convenient to have in the freezer .... and while I am at it, we are out of flapjack and I could make some brownies with the left over egg whites from the ice cream .....
What was I thinking!!! :ohmy: ::) Hot ... I ended up finishing the meatballs after 11pm on the theory it would be cooler for cooking them off. Moved from frying a la the recipe and baked them in the oven but still. Mad. :wacko:
But they are good although if I do them again I will up the spice level. I served the first batch with pasta and tomato and chilli sauce from the freezer. And there are 4 more batches boxed and frozen for another day.
Tonight will be simpler as we are planting out the leeks today. There is hm chicken stock in the fridge and mushrooms - risotto I think.

25c here at the mo and looks like staying around that all evening.
We will be grilling some plaice fillets and fresh picked asparagus outside on the barbie and will put some of our stored large sarpo potatoes to bake wrapped on the charcoal.
Was donated a load of watercress so will mix up with some of our salad leaves from around the garden.
Bought some cheap cones, so will use with some of the frozen rhubarb ice cream we made a while back.

Just rummaged the top of the potato pots and bags and have 4lb of Internation Kidney (Jersey) first earlies. That is the first potatoes of the season.
Also pulled up some lovely looking purple milan turnips.
Some will be used to go with a mince casserole for lunch along with a spring cabbage from a neighbour as an exchange for some of those potatoes.
For tea, a lasagne using our last years crop of frozen tomato paste and our frozen spinach.

Depends how the day goes. I've got some sausages out the freezer and picked up some pittas at Aldi this morning. If it stays hot - bbq sausages with veg spikes and pittas. If not I'll roast them with veggies and add couscous on the side.
Aldi was heaving at just passed eight this morning - full of ladies of a certain age (me included) going "I got here early before it gets hot/the kids arrive/to get ready for etc" and all of us assuming it would be quick and quiet. Noooo..... ::) The odd older man in for his paper or young one (v fit!) in for stuff for lunch was well out of place :D

Another curry night tonight. The one in the week went down a storm with OH, so he asked for same again please. As the mince and dhal are straight out of the freezer, that suits me.
I'm going to wilt some plot spinach and stir it through some spiced yogurt, plus I have shop bought naan in the cupboard. Should take all of 10 minutes to prepare :D

Shamefully there wasn't :( No Parmesan left and since all the standard cheddar cheese comes in impossible to cut economically shapes, I buy very little cheese now, it's my personal protest.

We are all having a six house neighbourly barbecue in our joint owned land at the rear of our houses.
Some other neighbours across and up the road attending too, so it'll be twelve families in all.
Just finished making a dozen baguettes, two focaccia and two cottage loaves.
Two houses including us have just been to Waitrose and bought loads of cheeses from all over the world.
Made some seekh and shami kebabs to barbecue.
Other neighbours have made bhajis, bbq mixed beans, guacamole, pineapple salsa and all sorts of mini snacks and bought plenty of sausages, chicken of all shapes and fish including sardines, sea bass and mackerel to barbecue.
A few of us including me have picked fresh lettuce, asparagus, mangetout and peas to share around. The peas will be steamed on the barbecue.
Someone is on herb duty cutting now, as we supplied all kinds of fresh picked herbs.
Plenty of drinks being supplied and much of that will be homemade.

BBQ will be coming out when cooler, so there are sausages, pork steaks and chicken thighs defrosting (I am hoping for leftovers for salad tomorrow!), to go with pittas and corn on the cob (last years, also defrosting) and veggie spikes. Must get some white wine in the fridge ....... or margaritas??? :unsure: :D

I had something very similar to you, except the veg was stir fried and on the side. No great culinary skill involved but it was good :)

Our frozen parsnips and Maris Piper from potato shed, all roasted.
First picking of broad beans.
Picked turnips, mangetout and some International kidney new potatoes.
Bought broccoli, swede and carrots.
Picked a load of gooseberries, to have with our homemade yogurt used in Nigella's yogurt custard.

I am putting savory rice (yes, rice with bits in!) into the slo cooker as the coolest (literally, not as in "Way cool Man!") way to make it. There is some leftover chicken and ham to go with it .... But I dont suppose we will want to look at it till 9pm ...

Barbi lit tonight - so I do the prep and clean up, and OH cooks while I chill.
Corn on the cob (last years from freezer) cooked in foil with lashings of garlic butter; marinated chicken thigh, small pork steak, veg spikes and pitta (Aldi I'm afraid). I feel warm and round and full! :)

Last night made some homemade burgers with the rest of the roast beef and cooked on the bbq.
Picked a load of broad beans and steamed them on the barbie too.
Served with a load of fresh picked lettuce.
Pork pie tonight.
Will pick some new potatoes, steamed on the barbie.
BBQ grilled fresh picked asparagus.
Will also be doing some skewers with slices of aubergine.

The plan is for pizza here - dough made in the machine and fast blast in the oven. Toppings... I think hm tomato sauce (note to self : get out of freezer!) and then one with mushrooms, garlic and spicy sausage and the other with anchovies and mozzarella. Big bowl salad, icy cold italian white wine and watch the sun fade on the longest day.

A summery turkey casserole has just gone in the slow cooker. Substantial and doesn't require anything of me in the heat of the afternoon. I'll make some rolls/scones/couscous/something later to go with depending on how hot it gets.

Just picked a bucket load of peas, will have those over the next few days, freeze some and a serving with a chicken, mushroom and tomato slow casserole, served with fresh picked Charlotte potatoes.
Also will be using the pods in a pea pod soup to have as a starter.

Last night was a cheese sandwich after a late shift. It did have salad in it, but not a great nutritional triumph really.
Today I have oddments of veg in the fridge, so pork steaks defrosting, which I will braise with miso, soy and mirin, some stir-fry veg and either rice or noodles :)

But steamed a load of our peas and mint, just scrummy.
Served with our frozen Sarpo chips.
Made a gooseberry crumble too.
Lunch is faggots, with our international Kidney new potatoes, broad beans, spinach, mangetout and turnip.
Making some onion gravy to mix with the faggot juices.
Tonight its welsh rarebit and also mushrooms on toast and tinned sardines on toast.
Just picked some Rhubarb that will roast slowly and make some custard for it.

I've been thwarted again today with my attempt to make some kebabs - it appears I use the only butcher who doesn't want to sell lamb in any form other than whole legs. :mad: I had the distinct impression this morning he had a serious case of the CBA for customers.
I'm at a bit of a loss again, if the chickens haven't had a CBA to lay day it will probably a mushroom omelette.

Its been a long and busy day and the CBA fairy was hovering, but I needed a decent dinner, so I kicked her out the way and threw our homegrown new potatoes in the oven to roast in a bit of oil. Chicken thighs followed and then a pan of our homegrown Wizard beans onto the hob.
The spoon standing was out of a tub of granules though :lol:

Making a Lamb Masala with our yogurt and also a Sag Gosht (Lamb and Spinach) curry with a load of spinach and chard + sliced chard stalks.
A side dish of saga aloo using more spinach and some charlotte potatoes that I picked yesterday.
Plenty of fresh breadmaker made naan to eat and clean the plate with and dip into some raita.
A lot of fresh mint picked for the raita but a bought cucumber.
Fresh picked strawberries mixed into some bought Cornish ice cream to cool it all down.

Last night was spinach and egg curry with rice, made with the beetroot tops from the first of the beetroot - really a last thinning, but still nice beetroot for lunch today.

Fridge clear out, today, so last of picked peas podded, half an unripe pepper (other half slugged :( ) half a red pepper, a few tired mushrooms and a carrot :lol: All into slow cooker plus lentils and a few diced PJ spuds.
Later, I was having a freezer move around, to make room to fit the loganberries in, and found a smidgeon of minced lamb, so bunged it in with the rest:)
I've just been out to pick a few tomatoes to find that all the Garden Pearl in tubs had split from last night's rain - so they're all gone in as well :lol: :lol:
Slow cooker is now jam packed full, think it will make a fantastic curry!

Picked out some of our frozen roasties and parsnips.
All to pair with a roasted Lambs heart and homemade stuffing.

Down to the lottie after a few days away and OMG!!!! Rows of lovely chinese leaves, and the first one already starting to go to seed. Ditto pak choi, and lettuces. Great box of mange touts (at least they freeze), a few courgettes, huge bunch of sweet peas and the fruit desperately needs picking, as does the parsley for the freezer ..... tomorrow's job! (let's not mention the weeds ....)
So this evening was stir fried mixed veg, braised chinese leaves in soy, and a hot sweet and sour pork concoction with some chopped cooked pork from the freezer. Oh and rice of course.

Picked a buckets of peas and a half bucket of mangetout. Will mix and match.
Emptied a bag with 12lb of Charlotte, so some nicely steamed with a fresh picked mint.
Picked a colander full of gooseberries, a bowl of strawberries and our first raspberries, so shared fruit to pick at.

I was late back yesterday, so had cheese salad sandwiches. There was the dog end of some bought coleslaw in a tub lurking in the fridge, so stirred a bit of wasabi paste in. That livened things up no end. The wasabi/mayo combo is one I have recently discovered and am getting a bit hooked on :lol:
Tonight is chicken thighs with spicy tomato and chickpea sauce. The sauce is already made, so just need to raid the plot for some greens and decide whether we are having rice, noodles or new potatoes with it :)

Just made the days food, as its a day of harvesting and weeding in the veg plot.
For lunch, a mince casserole with some charlotte potatoes and spinach that I picked at 5am.
For tea its a lasagne with added spinach and a just made cottage loaf to break and dip in a garlic butter.

Last night was quick before going out and so pasta sauce and meatballs were retrieved from the freezer.
Tonight's dinner will also come from the freezer (gotta make space for redcurrents!) so little pots of veg korma, bengali potatoes and beetroot curry are out to defrost, to go with rice. Last time I did this the microwave bust, so it is lo-tech heating up in pans time! :ohmy:

Tried a different butcher's this morning. Not impressed, everything was pre-packed in meat trays and shockingly expensive. Bought some diced lamb the plan is to mince it and make some kebab meat for pita but it may end up in the slow cooker as a casserole.

All homegrown veg; our stored roosters and parsnips, charlotte, turnips, broad and french cobra beans, peas, asparagus and the first picking this year of our patio tub carrots.
Sage, rosemary and chive stuffing.
Swapped some broad beans for a cauliflower.
Gooseberry crumble for afters with custard.

Have you thought of having a big cook up & portioning it up then freezing for days like this. Or cook double & freeze 1. Or homemade soups are better than nothing

I do get the problem - it is too warm to eat till late and then hard to be bothered. OH is the way I get round this - no way will he go to bed until fed. We are getting very spanish in our eating hours.
Tonight was a quiche made with bacon and onion and for the first time creme fraiche instead of cream in the custard (long story why it was lurking in the fridge). Worked quite well but needs refinement ... which is a good excuse to do it again. ::) There is another one for a picnic lunch on Weds. Salad and fresh rolls to accompany. Now I am warm (too warm) and round and full and heading for bed ...

Well it was going to be hm pasta in a hm tomato & Basil sauce with a bread crumbed chicken breast ala chicken parmigiana. Buuut hubby has a virus( no wipe that, he's dying) so we had fried chicken breast with leftover potatoes heated in the micro wave & I had salad 🙄😊

Just a thought Larders, but could you get a slow cooker installed at Mother Lard's? Then you could get some bulk meals cooked while you were there or between visits.
We are having tortilla bake - basically soft tortilla wraps layered with chilli from the freezer, a no- cook sauce of soft cheese thinned out with milk and with seasoning, herbs and garlic added and layers of grated cheese.
Its in the fridge having been assembled earlier and will be slung in the oven as and when we both get home :)

Well that is better than nothing, but only just ::) I think you need a nice treat tea tomorrow to make up for it ;) Forget the dinner and cook yourself a bread and butter pudding. That would be a better bet if you want nice soggy bread :D

Friday Fish night was kippers and a load of fresh picked charlotte potatoes and spinach.
Helping a neighbour remove old and build a new larger greenhouse today.
He has carefully put some large rolling planks underneath his tomatoes and cucumber beds in the old greenhouse for moving to the new one, which will be four feet to the side.
Just made two large mince, potato and turnip pies for our lunch. A quick 30 mins in the oven, so not holding us up too much.
Spaghetti Bolognaise with the rest of the mince for tea.

Another butcher this morning - all prepacked trays again :( Picked up a pound of his pork and black pudding sawhedges everything else looked too pink and wet.
Did those tonight with the oven chips I picked up on the way back ( I knew I was going to be lazy today), they weren't bad for 70p each, made a nice change.

Back from travels for a few days, so last night was salad, courgette sauted in garlic (all home grown inc first cucumber!! :) ), and chicken steaks in breadcrumbs. V quick for tired peeps.
I have a slo cooker of beef and mushroom on, which will be pie filling, to go with wilted chinese leaves, stir fried veg for tonight.

Tonight is stuffed veg using peppers from the greenhouse and possibly baby aubergines and tomatoes as well. Pre-cooked brown rice and a few rashers of bacon are defrosting for part of the filling and I have a nub end of cheese in the fridge to grate and sprinkle over :)

We had sliced plot spuds and onions, slow baked with stock. olive oil and lemon juice, then crisped up on top. Roast chicken thighs and homegrown french beans to go with them :)

It was Liver and fried onion gravy with loads of our veg and new potatoes yesterday for lunch and welsh rarebit for tea.

Stripped the roast (bargain) chuck from last night, so there is cold meat in the fridge, stock in the slow cooker and I am making a chicken and veg pie for tonight with the bits and using up the mushrooms that were starting to look sad. Not bad for £3.19! Steamed freshly dug charlottes, chinese leaves for greens and maybe some sautéed yellow courgettes on the side.

Tortilla bake, which is like lasagne but with chilli and wraps. Instead of a cheese sauce you spread the wraps with soft cheese and sprinkle with grated cheese before layering.

I had some peppers, mushrooms and the like Id left for a while which had gone a little soggy in places - stuff like that always smells worse than it actually is, or at least I think so. Cut off the manky bits and they're as good as new. :nowink:

A pack of pheasant legs found in the freezer, so now in the slow cooker with a little bacon, lots of veg and red wine. Will take the meat off the bone and sinews to make a nice rich meat in gravy for tonight (other half will go in a pie later in the week), to go with new potatoes, mange touts and beans.

I've just prepared a lasagne with oven roasted homegrown veg and homemade tomato sauce, plus lush cheese sauce (more cheese on top as well natch). As I was admiring my handiwork, OH arrived home and said he had forgot to say he was out tonight so bye again >:(
I'm thinking an overnight stay in the fridge will only improve things before it eventually makes it to the oven, but now I'm feeling the effects of the CBA fairy and wondering if I want to start cooking again ::) The chinese takeaway in the next street is suddenly seeming quite a good option :lol:

Lunch was Liver with onion gravy with all four beans and some of the new potatoes steamed.
Tea, will be Aloo Saag using the spinach and some of the new potatoes, with a corned beef and egg hash.
Raspberries mixed into some fresh made ice vanilla cream.

So I pulled a HM Lasagna from the freezer and reheated it in the microwave, with some of the bread I made yesterday.

Picked a large bowl of strawberries.
Roast lamb today with all home grown veg;
Roast potatoes/parsnips (frozen from my last years crop), new Charlotte potatoes, runner/hunter/french cobra/sonesta beans, baby carrots, turnips, red/white chard and rosemary sprinkled over the lamb.
Strawberries for afters, to be drizzled with a little cream.
Just chopping mint to make batches of mint sauce and freeze some in ice cubes for the over winter raita.
Freezing turnips too.

The freezer situation is daft - every time I pull some protein out (meat, cheese ..) I fill the space with veggies or fruit. Healthy diet over the winter I suppose. But veggies take up more space per meal ... :unsure:

Pheasant cobbler here (aka leftover stew with a scone topping!), with beet greens. There is a jam kettle of beetroot simmering on the cooker at the moment, to go in the freeer (where? :ohmy:) Have to get them lifted before the critters eat the lot.

Prawn crackers,prawn sesame toasts,pork dumplings, pork spare ribs,beef in black bean sauce,sweet & sour chicken,boiled rice & stir fried noodles with vegetables. All washed down with a bottle of prosecco. Was delicious 😊

I had a bonus potato plan growing in the strawberry container, I pulled it last night and as I expected there was enough spuds for 1 meal (I was home alone last night) so I chopped into cubes, covered in oil and salt, and along with a nice piece of chicken stuck it in the oven for 40 minutes. (Its a Nigella Lawson recipe) combined with peas and gravy it was a lovely supper!

Stuffed courgette (it was trying to be a marrow!) on a bed of buttered potatoes. The mince I got out for the stuffing has turned out to be lamb mince, so I am thinking something like a kofta mix .... :unsure: although I'm out of coriander leaves so it will have to have a tweak or two. ::)

Has to be grilled and served with wedges, salad and mayo.

Pappadums if I have time on the side. Frugal or what. ;)

I was late in yesterday, so it was snack time again, but hm pizza on Wednesday with the first of my Trinidad Perfume peppers. These have the fruitiness of a scotch bonnet, but just a gentle heat, rather than the usual blow your head off spice.
They were sliced and laid onto tomato sauce and mozzarella toppings - very nice :)

If you chuck some frozen peas in a colander, then drain the pasta over them, they defrost instantly and taste really fresh in the finished bowlful. One of your five a day as well.

Returned via the Wing Yip in B/ham so resupplied for things chinese/thai/indian and all points south east asian. That shop is the only thing i miss about commuting into B/ham each day. Mind you, it gets more mainstream each time I go but not less varied.
So I raided the freezer cabinet for chinese chilli beef, and added rice and stir fried veg when I got home ... oh, and prawn crackers. Easy, so why did we still end up eating late? :unsure: ::)
Tonight I need to make space in the freezer for beans .... There is a bag of oven chips from earlier in the summer taking up a lot of space so that might be the start. Or the pack of pittas as this could be the last bbq chance ... Decisions, decisions!

Half price lump of pork shoulder from T**co this am (only went in for baking marg and dry ginger) so it is in the slow cooker with cider, apples, carrots etc. I'll do it hot with roast veg tonight, and there will be plenty have cold and for the cooking veggies to get the last of it back to make a good casserole over the weekend. Result. :)

Pasta bake yesterday and tonight a more exotic selection.
A kind of sweetcorn casserole Indian style with coconut cream and spices, pakoras made with malabar spinach and a couple of salads/relishes - probably a tomato and chili one and a cucumber and mint one.

We're still getting over just one lamb shank, splunged in the slow-cooker for about five hours with onions, carrots etc...
Gorgeous hot with mashed spuds, but the next day, we took all the sauce away to make two days worth of soup, and carved the rest of the meat off the bone for cold as you do...
It just fell apart!
I still can't believe that several years ago, I went to a business lunch at some hotel in Park Lane, and everyone there - 250 lads and lasses - had a whole lamb shank each!

Cod cheeks, thin sliced potatoes fried and put in the oven while I cook the cheeks. Cod cheeks are flowered (seasoned) and fried. Salad or mushy peas. If mushy peas gravy added. Cod cheeks are far better flavour and much firmer than cod fillet.
Bought from Grimsby dock at £4.50 a kilo. Haddock fillets £9 a kilo.

Bit of a first tonight - homemade sauerkraut.
This was good, but it is really filling :lol: The fermentation process does shrink a lot of cabbage down into a few spoonfuls, so it made sense when I thought about it. I fancy hot dogs with kraut next :)

Tonight will be vegetable curry here, with rice and some cucumber & mint in yogurt if it ends up a bit spicy. Quite what veggies will depend on what is on the plot. The result will certainly not be authentic but should be warm, filling and tasty.

Particularly mid week on a bad week, so you have my sympathies. But glad to hear that the wheels are going back on the bus and proper food in the tummy.
Last night was pork and cabbage crockpot (run out of chicken thighs but there was some chopped shoulder pork in the freezer which substituted fine) with mash. Twas good. Today is a bit of a running around day so I am going to get a pot of tomato sauce and another of meatballs out of the freezer. Add pasta, basil and Parmesan and we are good to go!

I think it will be veal meatballs in a cream sauce with courgette (last ones) ribbons and spaghetti for dinner .... But for the next step for tomorrow I am struggling ....

HM tomato soup for lunch using roasted tomatoes and with the extra tomatoes I cooked, have a lamb rogan josh in slow cooker for tea.
Recipe used tinned tomatoes but my dad always used fresh tomatoes in his curries which were always absolutely delish. :)
As I have tons of tomatoes ripening finally, seems a good use of them aswell as lots frozen for sauces.

I don't think we have a local/independent butcher in Ashford any more, such a shame. All we can get is the s/market offerings - so little choice of cut, even with their counter sevice :(

I really value the independent family butchers we have in the village. Brother of the butcher has a kitchen above it so they do all their own pies and sausage rolls .... brilliant. Prices are comparable to the supermarket too. I just wish they were busier ... to be sure that they are going to stick around. We don't help much, as we are going increasingly veggie. ::) But their venison sausages call out to me each time I walk past .....

Tonight - by popular request (ie OH) it is toad (butcher's sausages) in the hole, with roast squash and onion, steamed calabrase (last gasp from the plants), and the rest of the buttered marrow, spoon standing.

as its started to get a bit like winter I quite fancy a bowel soup and my wife makes a lovely pumpkin soup piping hot with a sprinkle of chees on top a nice crusty roll and butter what a starter before the main course
we grow our pumpkins mainly for soup dishes through the winter lovely grub :D

Dinner was baked fillet of plaice, the last of last years courgette & peppers in tomato sauce from the freezer, peas,carrots,cauliflower.
No courgettes frozen this year though☹️ Will be a welcome crop next year

Coffee pot beef pot roast from the slow cooker, with mash and purple kale. Lovely! Fruit salad to follow inc a few strawberries found in a freezer defrost this morning.

Lambs liver, onions, mustard mash and mixed veg. So good I could eat it all again, but with a nice savoy cabbage instead of mixed veg :tongue2: :tongue2:

Been mudlarking on the plot so tired. Easy option taken of shop bought pie, but did make hm roasties and braised leeks to go with it, plus retrieved some Wizard beans from the freezer.

Last night was a mix up of what was lurking in the fridge & 2 chicken breasts that when defrosted were rather on the small side, so for him champ, roast potatoes, carrots, stuffing & fried chicken with herbs & garlic,& me the chicken, corn on the cob(from the freezer) carrots,stuffing , all with a blob of mayo as neither of us decided the gravy was right😂

I've been struggling through work with a cold the last few days and have been hard pushed to find an appetite for much tbh ::)
A shift at job no 2 beckons later, but I've prepped ahead. There is a large pan on the stove with a base of onion, carrot and celery all pulsed in the food processor, diced beef straight out of a bag from the freezer, plus a sauce of stock, leftover hm tomato sauce, chilli and some seasonings. Some pre-cooked borlotti have just gone in out of the freezer and the whole lot is having a final simmer. For a slung together dish, it is very tasty :D
It's almost worth going to work so I can look forward to coming back to it .... almost :lol:

Well it’s hubbys birthday & our wedding anniversary tomorrow, our son has bought him some very nice sirloin steaks on the bone & brought them round yesterday so we’re having them, I was going to have salad with mine but I think it’s too cold as it’s bitter & we had snow this morning so hopefully I’ll direct hubby to cook up something hot with it lol

Today is already in "not-quite-as-planned- >:(-" mode, so I have dived into the freezer for prepared leeks and a pack of cold meat. Roast chicken for us with roast potatoes and parsnips, swede, carrots and last years green beans. Slowly making a hole in the big freezer ready for all the treats we looked at in Tesco this afternoon when we went to pick up a few essentials (washing powder, coffee etc).

Tonight’s dinner ended up as not quite planned here, a bowl 🍲 f soup tha5 I should have had for lunch was had for dinner as I’ve been at the hospital since 12 with DIL who was delirious following throwing up all night, our son stayed with our granddaughter as she’d had it Friday night & he also had it Saturday night so wasn’t in a fit state to take her, all home now & hubby has it, so no roast lamb as planned, plus I’ve to make up the bed in th3 spare room!

Thanks news, all feeling a bit better bar hubby who is a wuss, I’m a bit burp & cancelled my hair appointment not wanting to inflict it on any one else. So I think it’s soup again for tea & maybe we’ll feel like the roast lamb tomorrow (hubby had cooked it)

Tonight it’s potatoes & onions baked in vegetable stock with chicken breasts plonked on top, the stock will be made into a light gravy served with carrots,peas & broccoli for delicate tummies,mines ok just hubby still feeling delicate

I had a pork loin chop with beetroot gratin, roast spuds and cabbage. All hm grown veg .... and bargain cream in the gratin. (That's my excuse for something so calorific!)
Tonight I have to get my pastry fingers back in shape for the mince-pie-athon that is looming. So I'm warming up with a turkey and veg pie (turkey wings in the slo cooker - so there will be stock as well) with cabbage.

Tonight - assuming I can get to the shed - will be vegetable (lentils, peas, mushies etc) stuffed marrow on buttered potatoes.
Addition : that sounded a bit dull and worthy, so some parsnip was added to the potatoes, and some small spicy sausages cooked between the slices of marrow with the whole lot topped off with crunchy cheese. It twas good - and not at all worthy! :)

Mini Christmas dinner - just because I had pigs in blankets and a few other things ready in the freezer and then we didn't have turkey on the day.

A return to 'lighter' food here, I'm fed up with all the rich stuff - so today I made soup with leftover veg and tea is some of the honey mustard ham joint with salads.

Pretty much a repeat of Christmas Eve tea,roast ham,salad,hm coleslaw,pickles & tonight jacket potato instead of hassleback potatoes. My appetite has been so small(unheard of before) & my sense of taste so out of whack I’m hoping I can taste it tonight. Pud will be blueberry cheesecake for me & for hubby grand marnier sticky orange Christmas pudding

Back last night from my Mum's .... via Morrison's for petrol, milk, cream. And a few bargains fell into my basket, so it was spiced lamb burgers (the mince was a bargain) baked in the oven, with wedges and a few roast veggies. A good change of pace.
Tonight is the last of the Christmas duck in a duck and mushroom pie, with cabbage (last of the january kings due to the collapse of the brassica cage under the snow) and mash. Spoon standing of course.
