Whiskey barrels

I saw some think half (18") whiskey barrels for £21 is that a good price. Is there any reason not to grow salad veg in it or strawberries.

i'd personnally grow my carrots in them rather than strawberries or salad veg. as fror the price, i have no idea, as i've never bought one

Any particular reason why not strawbs and salad veg?

Carrots good idea but a bit lower than I would like them to be for carrots dunno!

I don't think it so much a case of don't grow them, but if you chose carrots, (and raised them a bit more), they would be out of the reach of root fly.
