Good afternoon everybody, is purple brussel sprouts. A total disaster leaves eaten completely away even though the plants were under enviromesh sprouts tiny all now chopped up in the compost bin except for the stiffest stems now under a sprinkling of compost maker and sieved wood ash..
I think next years chosen enemy is whitefly (although I cannot put the damage down to those little beasties). Cheers, Tony.

Sorry to hear about your sprouts. I only grow F1 varieties now as the OP ones always dissapoint. I don't know if there is an F1 purple sprout though

This years disaster for me was putting squash and tomatoes out to early had back ups so wasn’t a total fail but what a difference 2 week can make

Mine is my purple sprouting broccoli planned for next spring. The weird weather meant it cropped in October covered in white fly!

at present fingers crossed our brassicas are white fly cleat although I did spray them prior to planting them it's essential for me to spray all our brassicas before planting and other veg if needed

Courgettes for me this year , the few that germinated & got planted out just never got going. Now Patty pan squash were a different story, still got 3 huge ones in the garage :lol:

Celery. Just could not get it to germinate!!
-
Beans (again!) ::)
-
All the brassicas. Safely tucked away under mesh to keep the cabbage white butterflies at bay only to have them decimated by aphids. I've never seen them so bad.

Courgettes have been a problem for me over the last 2 years much to my dismay, just can't get them fruiting now after years of success :(

I also had a problem with courgettes this year.
Was it just too hot for them??

Where did you get your seeds from? The same happened to my PSB the year before this and when I investigated I found that I had been sent the wrong seeds. I had been sent one of the varieties that dont need vernalisation; purple rain I think.

Same here in Ayrshire. Wet mild autumn I think.

My slicing tomatoes were absolutely pathetic. I tried a new variety, Garden Leader 'Monster', all but a couple were the size of cherry tomatoes (advertised as up to 2 pound fruits).
Never again!
