The Voting Is Now OPEN until Sunday 24th May 2009

Sheds and shacks - That could be a posh chalet style shed, a dilapidated wreck on a plot or even a chicken coop So get snapping! you can even take interior shots if you want. Be creative!

There's a prize! Either a copy of either of my books or if you've got them both (bless you!) a copy of Virginia Shirt's The Right Way to Keep Chickens

This competition will run until 17th May - with voting for a week after.

The simple rules:

  • You can enter one photograph into the competition which should be no more than 640 pixels wide.
  • It can be anything you want that sums up the holiday season for you
  • It should be accompanied by a short title and some description.
  • The competition is open to all "Full Members".
  • At the closing date we will add a poll for members to vote on and the most popular photo will be the winner.
  • The winner will receive a prize as listed above and the winning photo may be placed in a permanent photo gallery along with the best runners up.
  • Closing Date for Entries: Sunday 17th May 2009 when voting will be allowed by all members until Monday 25th May

This is my 21ft static caravan that came with one of my plots. The pic was taken about 4 years ago. I've since re-roofed it so it is now only leaks slightly :). I also cleaned all the rubbish out of it. My better half still won't go in tho, although the mice still do. Its handy for having a cuppa and a sarnie and storing things of no value (due to break-ins) - rusty nails, bits of string and "that'll come in handy" stuff (ya know, empty fire extinguishers etc) that I'm not allowed to keep at home.  :(

Emily enjoys being clerk of the works whilst remaining in the shed

It's a patchwork shed that came with the plot.  It now has guttering and is more watertight!

Hard to believe perhaps, but this was once a pigsty!

I've got this ex-WW2 pigsty (that's been used as a shed for at least 40 years) on one of my plots that needs a little bit of refurbishment, hence the piles of pallets for use as cladding timber. I’ve got a stack of salvaged decking bearers to replace the fire damaged structural timbers and a load of old corrugated iron sheeting to fix the roof. I’ll might even make some bath panels out of pallet boards to make it look really smart.

Well here is my shed.  Courtesy of freecycle, my youngest brother and 2 hammers helped me dismantle it, but I had to transport it, unload it and rebuild it all by myself (although a neighbour on the plot turned up at a critical moment to hold the back wall in place while I nailed it in place)

None of it really fits perfectly together, holes and gaps on all sides including the roof (which is held in place by the rope tied to 2 palletts, the front one also holds the door in place), new felt needed, new hinges too.  I've had it a couple of months now but been too busy growing stuff or digging to lavish any attention on it, although I will, and I reckon I'll easily get a good few years out of it.  Certainly feel inspired after seeing other peoples pictures.

Oh, and looking at the picture of it, it does look like it leans too, although I did use a spirit level when putting the base down (believe it or not  )

This is our brick dunny which, I hasten to add is no longer used for the purpose it was intended  .  I'll spare you a picture of the inside with its hole in the floor  :D :D .  It does make an excellent place to keep the rotovator though.

Now that's some showing off!!  :D

As promised, I know you've all been waiting for it, with baited breath  ::) - here's my lateral-thinking entry.

This is my 'garden shed' ...

 :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
