Hey guys! Can anyone help me with what to net and when to protect from birds and bugs. I have chickens also that free range, but plan to block off the raised bed from them. Here’s the list of what I plan to grow this year...

Broadbeans
French beans
Beet root
Brussels sprouts
Calendula
Carrots
Lambs lettuce
Loose leaf
Onions
Red onions
Peas
Potatoes
Pumpkin
Spinach
Spring onion
Strawberries

All Brassicas ( that's your Brussels) need covering with nets with mesh size 7mm or smaller, to keep out Cabbage White butterflies (large and small)
Carrots need covering with a very fine mesh/fleece to stop carrot root fly.
Strawberries need to be netted, after the flowers have peen pollinated, to stop birds eating the fruit.

In my experience slugs will eat anything/everything except the onions

I net my peas initially until about 4 inches, also net my lettuce, didn't bother one year - all eaten by unknown pest !
