EGLU CLASSIC
« on: August 11, 2011, 14:04 »
I think Aunt Sally might be able to help me with this one.

I have bought an Eglu classic with the run, to use as a holiday home for my chick chicks.

My plan is to take it and the chicklets to a friends when we are away on hols next year.
I'm hoping it will be ok for 5 bantams for a max of 12 days. If the 2 boys (see my other post about these!) don't get on it will only be for 4 anyway, which I thought would give them enough space.

We have a proper wooden house and good run plus free range when they are at home, but I'm hoping now I've got it that it will be big enough for 5 of them.

It might not be a lot of room but its better than battery and it will only be for 12 days at a time max!!!

So my query is. will it be ok for them and not too small, short term.
thanks

I have 2 eglu classics (amongst my coops) - one is a chicken one and the other the rabbit version which I use as a broody coop) and yes they will be big enough - just move it daily so they are on fresh ground to give them plenty of ground to scratch up and grass to nibble  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

The actual coop will be plenty big enough, I could get 8 full size chickens in my Eglu Go, if not more.

The run is trickier, move it every couple of days.
We use chemicals in this garden, just as god intended
