As a quick update to yesterdays message. One of the beans planted outside had just sprouted yesterday when I got to the plot. Shame that I didn`t realise what it was until the hoe had just gone through it! ::)
I can remember when it were all fields round `ere.

  That's usually my trick!

rhysdad, you're not much far behind many of us, and later sowings always catch up anyway.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Jeez, I am really late with everything this year. All my beans were sown in rootrainers Sunday just gone apart from my wonders which will be sown direct this coming Saturday....

I've only just started mine  :D It's been lovely and hot during the days but the nights have still been a bit nippy, so I was in no hurry to sow and plant mine  :nowink:

I know we can't rely too much on long range weather forcasts, but mine is showing night temps below 5 degrees on some nights next week.
My beans are staying under cover  :nowink:

Don`t want to worry you FB, but I planted a lot of Blue Lake beans about 6 weeks ago both outside and in the greenhouse and so far nothing.

I sowed mine in the greenhouse and every one of them is up!  ;)

I wouldn`t have bought Ferrari if I`d known they were white seeds, I just dont get on with white seeds. Having said that the ones sown direct are coming up like weeds. I threw them in quite thickly, thinking only a few would grow and now they`re touching in places.

For next year does anyone know of any black seeded varieties?

No need to wait Grandan, I am trying these and have just put them into pots.

I hope the taste is different / better than the dwarf yellow beans that I grew a few years back. My OH said they tatsed like disinfectant (whatever that tastes like  )

The curse of the Ferrari beans continues!

As I posted a few days ago the ones sown direct germinated quite well but several have just the seed leaves and the growing point has gone brown. What has caused this? It certainly wasn`t too wet conditions.
I`m left handed, what`s your excuse?

Warm winds? I'm not at all sure.

My bean germination has been very hit and miss this year - doesn't help growing them at two different addresses and sowing several different types. Hard to remember off hand which have grown well satisfactorily and which have: not come up at all, been nibbled by slugs / snails, died off like yours just as they had appeared  or are still sat sitting there thinking about it.

Last year bean germination appeared so much easier......or is that my imagination.
