Flying Insects
« on: August 12, 2022, 12:49 »
I have just identified a Damsel fly as a Common Darter.   But no idea as to the other strange thing.  It looks as if its head is at the bottom end.  It feeds from the top end in the flowers, and is very very quick when it flies.
I thought it might be a Scorpion Fly, but not sure at all.  Any ideas please.    I do not have any ponds etc, except the bird baths which are full of wasps !!    Will the wasps sting the birds as they drink ?    Mrs Bouquet

I can’t comment on the flying insect without an image I’m afraid.
However a quick google suggests that your wasps would be unwise to try stinging a bird as they are likely to become the birds dinner!!
Keep digging

I once worked with someone whose maiden name was Clegg. She married someone called Horsefall.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
