Husband and I both had it.  Like a really bad cold, I'm mildly asthmatic and it made me a bit wheezy but that meant slightly more use of my inhalers.  Has taken time to get appetite and energy levels back to normal.  We've both had 3 jabs.

I'm not sure what I expected it to be but it wasn't too bad but I assume that was partly because of being jabbed

Thankfully not, can’t think with all these numbers rising that we will get away for long  :(  triple jabbed here too.

The are talking about a spring booster.  We will all resemble pin cushions by the time they have finished.

Yes some people have already had it, I was speaking to a committee member yesterday & her son who is vulnerable has had a 4th jab. Rather that than the alternative for me, thank you.

We may have had it. Both of us felt off-colour for about 3 days, I had a persistent headache too. Neither of us felt bad enough to think Covid and we weren't going anywhere so didn't take a test. Wish we had as I'd be a lot more comfortable knowing where I stand.

I've had a couple of 'heavy' colds, with aches and pains, but the LFTs said they weren't Covid.
So who knows

It's a shame there isn't some simple test that you could take to tell you if you've had it and are pretty much immune. At least the Omicron variant isn't as pathogenic so somewhat less worrying.
Title: Re: Have you had Covid
Post by: New shoot on March 21, 2022, 11:32
If you have had your jabs, your anti-body status would register from that so I think it it would be hard to say whether you had natural anti-bodies on top. I guess either would work, so it would not really matter  :)

The last wave (Omicron) was getting almost everyone, so you would have been hard pressed to miss it.  If you came through with just the normal winter off colour type bug symptoms, I would chalk that up as a positive and unless you have been told otherwise by the doctor, get out and enjoy the spring and summer as much as you can.  You know the old saying - 'gather your rosebuds while you may, the plague may strike again at any day'  ;)

OH tested positive on PCR while testing negative on lateral flow last year and had no symptoms whatsoever, so make of that what you will

Early on in the pandemic I was selected by the NHS to take part in an antibody response trial, to see how/if the first round of vaccines were working. They involved dripping a blood sample onto something similar to a diabetic glucose test unit. So yes there are tests, you'd think they'd make them more available than they are

No (touch wood).
Same for Mrs. SubP and son 1 / son 2.  (touch wood 3 more times).

I tested one time, negative.  We have vaccinated and boosted whenever it's been recommended and will continue to do so.  Also, we are regular mask-wearers in public places.

Fortunately, the desk I'm chained to while "teleworking" is made of wood, so I can touch wood all day long.

Neither myself nor Mrs Hog have succumbed thus far.
However we are on full alert as son in law came down with it Saturday and grandson was positive by LFT today. They live in our village so we see them regularly.
Son in law is pretty rough but Grandson is bouncing around like tigger. Supposed to go up north this week so fingers crossed we don’t have it!!
Not sure they should have lifted all the constraints and stopped free LFTs. Agree that we need to get back to a “new normal” but we also need to be vigilant.

I think I'm clear of it so far, unless there were no symptoms.

Went for a PCR yesterday as I had a few possible symptoms, but the result is luckily negative. Family in Brussels have had it twice, and I'm losing count of the number of times my yoga teacher has cancelled or substituted classes owing to covid in her household.

We've stayed clear of it as well here but we are in a bit of a 'bubble' and not as exposed as the Mainland.  Both my daughters  on the mainland have had it.  Fortunately after being vaccinated, so only a  mild cold like symptom.  That's the way I'd like it to stay.  Unfortunately it is on the Island, Alice over the road is only in High School two days a week as 22 of the teachers are all isolating.

At the price of ciggies nowadays, who can afford a real smoker's cough?

Sorry to hear Mrs Bayleaf has succumbed. Just as well we have vaccines. Clearly shows the great danger of looking after grandchildren. But Mrs Hog tells me I enjoy it.  Spent yesterday taking ours to the coast as daughter was tearing her hair out after two weeks of the 5 year old at home for Easter. Lovely sunny weather but with very few people showing any concern over Covid when in restaurants etc.

We've had it, although because my hubby has been really ill we haven't been anywhere at all other than the surgery, and I've only been there with him, or to the chemist to collect his prescriptions. When we've been to these two places we've both worn masks and used hand gels, so I don't know how or where we picked it up from. Perhaps I should say I picked it up because I was the first with symptoms, which I thought were just a cold with a very painful throat for a day or two. Hubby only had symptoms for 24 hrs.  Our son brought test kits round for us after a few days and hubby still tested positive, although I was negative.  We were very grateful to have had the three jabs that almost certainly saved us from far worse symptoms.

No one in our family or even extended family or any close friends or neighbours have had it.
We were and still are being over careful, keeping distance and wear masks in shops and indoor non-home places etc. Plus wear masks and keep distance when meeting others we do not know outside and especially at home with visitors like builders, workmen etc.
All our delivery guys from Asda, Morrisons and Waitrose all still wear masks, so can have a brief chat with them on the doorstep. But do not allow them into the house to carry the goods through to the hallway or kitchen, as if they are not the regulars they do ask if we would like them to.

I use to use the local buses a fair bit before the pandemic (mainly short journeys to keep off the heavier rain, rather than walking in it), but have not been back on one since the start of the pandemic and will probably not for sometime.
Also none of us have yet contemplated going back to any hospitality establishments, cinema or theatre events that we did do occasionally before the pandemic. The thought of inside contact is really not on our radar. Mind, not really missed them at all, so maybe good for the wallet in the long run.
Have attended a few outdoor events, but still wear masks and keep distance.

Still wearing mask when I'm in the shops, can't imagine going in one without it.  Husband clear so far.

Got the thing at Christmas after a family gathering, along with my wife and son. I was the only one of us that tested positive but we all had the same symptoms. Weird. Two weeks of misery followed, like a bad student hangover without the headache, if that makes sense. None of the traditional cold and flu symptoms, though; not even a sniffle.
Five months later I'm still not right and being investigated for long Covid, with horrible neurological disturbances, brain fog and periods of zero energy so complete that all thought and activity cease, like someone took out my batteries. It comes and goes, but the periods of abeyance are getting longer and the crappy parts are getting shorter - about half-and-half at the moment. It's a bind, but it's a vast improvement on 2 good days in a whole month, which is how it was in the beginning. Onwards and upwards!

Sorry to hear of yet more people getting the dreaded covid. Hope you recover soon.
One point to remember on masks is that unless they are serious medical standard masks theory is you are protecting others not mainly yourself. I still wear a mask in shops but try to avoid the unmasked breathing all over me! I must say it wouldn’t harm to have maintained the masking rule for shops a bit longer. The current situation is that those of us still wary of Covid are protecting others but many appear oblivious to the continued risks. As far as I can see the incidence of infection is greatly reduced but not eliminated.

The thing is, it is doesn't look as if it is going to be eliminated, we will have to learn to live with it, perhaps with a winter booster like older people have for 'ordinary' flu.

Another case of Covid locally this week I’m afraid. My neighbour at the plot was tired after digging and explained he now has long Covid. Very ironic he volunteered in the local vaccination centre for months with no problem then went to church and caught it due to an infected person singing next to him. He said five people got it due to this one individual attending church when he felt rough. Looks like I’m going to continue wearing a mask when I’m shopping even if it has only limited effectiveness.

Our daughter got a text from the NHS to say she'd been in close contact with someone who had covid. It was an outdoor meeting and apparently 3 people had it! Lots of people don't even feel ill so don't know until they test..
Anyway, I'm afraid we're working on the basis that if we get it, we get it.

Yep currently suffering along with hubby. We both felt unwell on Wednesday on the 2nd day of our holiday, I tested negative on Thursday but we both tested positive on Saturday having already decided to return home to give the rented house breathing space before the next people arrived. Turns out it’s empty until Saturday next but we feel happier at home. Had some weird symptoms, so much joint pain for me & both had abdominal pains & a horrible chesty cough, sore throat for me but not him & extremely tired. Luckily hubby felt well enough to drive home & it was a good journey back.
We must have picked it up from hubbys sister in law whom we visited last Sunday & she then tested positive the next day with the rest of their immediate family going down with it in the next few days like us. Hubby’s sister & BIL who were also there have been ok, there’s no method to the madness!!
