I was always under the impression that slugs didn't like anything of the onion variety ...but seems I was very wrong.  Darn things are on my onions and leeks every single night.    I have to go on a 'slug hunt' every evening and pick them off ...dozens of the blighters

ha ha they never attack my onions but they ate all my pac choi and my let ice nothing left the little bligters

This year I lost a container of white onions to slugs and they chomped my Garlic Chives right down. I wonder if they would taste like garlic snails? Anyone want to try and then let me know?

I was under the impression that toads and hedgehogs eat slugs but Boris ( the resident toad!) and the hedgehog are definatly not doing their job as many of my plants have been chomped!

I have the same problem. i think that tyhe slugs only started on the onions when the onions started to die and the tops flopped. is that when u noticed the slugs?

No, these B*****s actually CLIMB the stems of the onions, munch away until they flop and then invite their friends round to join in  

We've got loads of frogs n toads too........but at this rate, the slugs'll be eatin' them

yes i noticed that they invite their mates and before long its an invasion. i removed 20 slugs from one plant by hand. of course i took revenge on them and enjoyed it

Just come in from my evening slug hunt....and the usual invasion....but can someone tell me if there is a difference between the skinny but long, black slugs....and the great big fat orange ones - yuk   - Are they different 'breeds'
