First one is a few planks in the ground and a few across to support the netting..
Second is old framework from plastic greenhouses hashed to make the frame for the net.

Mine is like Gavin's second one, but the struts are made from old school metal table frames. You could use wooden battens instead.

It keeps birds off a treat but voles tunnel in under the ground and come up inside to filch strawberries, which drives me to distraction

I make water pipe domes as inspired by Ice - more stable than hoops on our windy site. It definitely doesn't need to be as high, but all my pipe is cut to the same length to make it a bit more multipurpose.

I do the water pipe domes too but only one bed seems to need it, no idea why. Our pipe is all cut to the same length too so it's that size and that size only.

Yes I quite agree but when you grow too many like me you need more than just piping  :D  :D  :D I must have Texan in me... No ... I'm just a true born and bred Rhodesian where we did everything big..
