Hi

My leeks are growing well and I am keen to plant them out - but the info I have says when they are 8 inches high and as thick as a pencil.

We are growing Autumn Mammoth 2 - Snowstar (what or whoever they are - all new to us) and they are now 8 inches high but only half as thick as a pencil - how criticle do you think this is or will they come on better in the ground now rather than my growhouse?

Any advice - thanks

I always take that advice as if they mean the inside of the pencil, plant up, they'll be fine. 8)

Planted my leeks out a few days ago (Autumn giant and musselburgh) they wasn,t as thick as a pencil and they seem to have got away ok.
Like Gobs says, go ahead and plant them out... :D
I used to work in a helium gas factory, but I walked out, no one talks to me like that.

Same here .. Mine went out 2 weeks ago. About 7-8" long and only about half thickness, like you describe. They seem to be doing ok  :D

Good that means I can do mine too ... cos they are smaller than pencils but bigger than lead!  :D

They say it's good to have lead in the pencil.

So much to do, but so little time.
