I hope it is ok to write this here but I just wanted to say what a great site this and what great people that support it.  I've only been writing on here for a few days and have only had an allotment plot a few weeks and already I feel right at home here and have gained lots of advice and given some too.

Thanks to you all for such a great welcome!

It's lovely to see younger people being interested in growing their own food and finding out about it all!  Our kids think we are nuts growing our own and raising our own chooks.

Why bother when its all available in Tesco eh???  When we said to youngest step DIL what would you do if there was no Tesco, she said oh that's okay, I'd go to the corner shop!!!!!!

I like the sense of achievement when you do manage to grow something that is edible.  Its nice to be able grow flowers and shrubs, but when you grow veg and fruit that you can eat well that is a big bonus isn't it.

Plus gardening is good stress relief, not like shopping at Tescos which is more likely to give you stress!

And the price of food going up makes you feel more glad you are growing your own too.

The sense of achievement when I walk back home with my basket of veg for dinner or my daily eggs is brilliant. It is even better when we have enough to give away.

I always get a laugh at some people's shock when I give them veggies I've grown. They can't believe anyone actually bothers.
