Moulting Hen?
« on: January 07, 2010, 10:12 »
Our Molly moulted right after raising her chicks this August.  We went out to take care of the hens this morning and she is dropping feathers like crazy.  They are all over the hen house, nest box and run.  Could she be moulting AGAIN this soon?
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

Did your hen do a complete moult as they tend to moult in two stages, one of mine did wings and tail first followed by belly, back and cape in the first bit of snow . The broody (but still laying) one has been naked underneath for !8 months.

She looked pretty oven ready the last time so I am totally clueless about her.  She has been a handful since we got her last April.  She's never ill, just does soft shelled eggs, lashers, goes broody often, now this.
