bout sexing your hens, someone told me you can sex your birds by the feathers on their necks. The hens have rounded and the cock birds more pointed. Anyone know if this is true?

I know this is an old thread but just thought I would answer it anyway.
I was also told this about the pointed neck feathers and have found that in the case of my little banty silkie cross Dannie it isn't true. Danny (as he/she used to known) had a larger comb and wattles than his sisters, longer tail feathers and very pointed neck feathers. In fact all who saw him agreed he was a boy who didn't crow. Well now Dannie is laying lovely eggs - 4 a week, the long tail feathers have gone but the pointy neck feathers are still there, so not always a reliable way of telling the sex of a bird  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.
